Any 27 Santego owners (or former owners) have any comments on the boat. Like the layout and am thinking about moving from 24' expanded cuddy cabin Sun Runner to the Santego. TIA
I work at a Carver dealer and have alot of experience with these boats. Try to get one with V-6 engines (I prefer the Volvo Duo Props), and make sure it is new enough to have the deep vee. The deep vee started in mid 1988 and is very evident by looking at the degree of vee at the transom. The room in the boat is phenominal, and the deep vee hull will take water fairly well. I personally have the 27 Montego, which is built on the same hull and thouroughly love the boat. I've had it for 11 of it's 21 years and it is aging quite well.
I love my Santego. We have decided basically that this is our last boat. Plenty of room for us and any kids that show up in town. Good power with the twin V6's, I have Mercruisers but the boat planes quickly and handles well. I have marine AC and a generator and we leave on Friday pm or Sat am and 'disappear' in a Lake Mead cove, we love it. The only thing I am even thinking about is possibly adding some type of hard top/sundeck over the aft deck.
We love ours. It's an '89 with twin 4.3l v6 mated to alpha 1 drives. Like Top, I also have a genset and air. My 2 negatives are: access to the foredeck sucks, and the v-berth is perfect for one person, not 2 as advertised (we now sleep in the mid cabin)
Wasn't it you who was thinking about a walk thru in the middle to get to the foredeck? Got any plans drawn up yet or still thinking?
It's still on my list.
The walk-thru is still a potential winter project, no hard plans draw up. With the outdrive replacement project and now some
bottom work, not sure when I'll start.
Sorry been out on the Freedom of the Seas all last week. We are settled. Had my outdrives done over the summer also, bellows, ujoints, resealed etc, etc.
