I have a 1988 Santego 30 with a couple of bad flourescent fixtures. These are the rectangular lights that take a pair of 15watt tubes. The bulbs are fine, and the fixtures worked last season.

Is there a source for replacement fixtures? It looks like replacing the ballast is not really an option, so either I replace the whole unit or fabricate another fixture, probably using LEDs.

If you can find the makers name they may be available. otherwise just use something else that fits. Ballasts are available for many old lamps on the web but usually not worth the bother.

On my '88 Carver, I had one of my fixtures go bad. I pulled it down to look into replaceing and there was info about the Mfg. I looked them up and they offered a re-build service. Sent it off to be re-built and if I remember, cost wasn't bad.

They are made by ThinLite...you can check on the web...I'm pretty sure they are still available.

Sam's Club (maybe other places as well) has roughly the same size fixture with LED's. Actually it's really quite nice looking. 2 fixtures come in a box set for ~$25.

Each unit runs off 4 (?) "AA" batteries. I don't know what the voltage is, but if you could step down the voltage to the required for the fixture at that price, they are throw aways every few years.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I have found numerous sources online and have even ordered replacement lenses already. It looks like the fixtures in my boat are the ThinLite Model 736, but I will yank one this weekend to be sure.

Check out trailor suppies camping equipment and RV home dealers I found 2 of them in at much cheaper offer than my marina
same thing for a few other items over the past year in small pieces that have been required
