I finally picked up an Intellian I2 I didn't know which unit I was going to buy when I bought my combo Radar mount unfortunately it didn't just bolt on I had to make an adapter plate out of starboard it was a bit of work but it's in and looks good I have a little wiring to finish but I was able to test it the way it is and it works great.

I didn't know that West Marine did price matching, great for me but dumb for them. I went on line and found a site selling it for a $150 less then I had hoped to pay and they matched the price.

Tomorrow I will complete the install and find something else to work on:) I'm thinking of adding some cameras, one on the arch one in the engine room and maybe one in the side air intake so I can see the dock as I approach.

Dave, was that you in Haverstraw's West Marine about 12:30 or so yesterday? I was there picking up some new speakers and a guy (you?) was picking up a TV sat antenna.

Yes that was me, were you at the counter? Did you ask me what I was picking up. This seems to be the first of this model that any of the stores has sold to date. They pick up the line in December and they didn't hit the warehouse until this weeks

Hank sorry you will have to stick to internet porn:)

The install is complete and working great. I'm very happy it and it was easy to setup.

Dave, I didn't talk to anyone except Tom, the manager. Picked up my speakers and headed right down to the boat to install.

Told you it was a good unit. Enjoy

Dave you were right, I'm very happy. I was going to order it from the place you recommended but I'm friendly with the manager of WM and I wanted to give him the sale he told me about place matching so I just Googled it and found a price for an additional $150 off from the sight you told me about. Granted it took three weeks for them to get it but I wasn't in a rush. The system seems to stay locked in at about 86% and the picture is perfect.

86%? You mean you lose signal 14% of the time? Underway or docked. I never lose signal at all. That seems odd.

86% locked on isn't very good.

You should be 100% locked on all the time. Only time would be if you are being blocked by a larger boat or big sailbote mast.

The most I ever got with a fixed dish on the dock is about 95% that is using a larger dish, I will be very happy if it holds 86% while moving I would expect less. The picture is perfect.

I have installed many DTV and Dish network setups in my day and I have yet to see 100% ever.

Dave what signal strength do you read on yours.

My SeaKing unit locks in at 96-97%. I have never lost signal under way or at the doc. Great unit, and no issues for 3 years.

In the receiver setup menu go to satellite test or settings, look for signal strength it should be easy to find.

Bob I'm impressed that you are getting such a high reading. Usually the smaller domes don't get as strong a signal. I have found that a signal in even the low 80s is more then go enough, 86 with an in motion unit is great in my book. I don't require more so I'm happy, this said I'm curious what others with the same unit are getting as a comparison.

I just checked on a KVH unit and it is only getting 88% two slips away from me so like I said I'm perfectly happy with 86% with a small dome.

Dave- You mean 86% signal strength, not that it's only saying locked on the sat 86% of the time, right?

BTW, I installed a second receiver so the kids can watch a different channel on the front TV. What a complete pain. I should have just bought the KVH unit for $400. I got the cheap DirecTV unit, then added an inverter, IR repeater, KVH splitter and destacker. If I'd only have read the manual first. Duh.

Ben yes I read 86% signal strength 100% of the time:)

with your unit it's much easier to use the KVH compatible boxes. In the end how much did you save not much I'll bet.

This is one of the nice things about my unit I can use any box I want without any special adapters.

Not much. How does a second receiver connect? Are there multiple coax jacks on the back of the main receiver?

On my unit I have an A and B output on the dome I ran the A out put to the controller box that directs the dome it has an output that feeds the first box and the B output goes to the second box. If I want to add more sets I just need to a Multi switch which is inexpensive and would provide I believe up to 8 outputs.

What signal strength do you get on your unit?

Dunno. Have to look next time I'm out.

How would a multi switch allow a secondary receiver to control the LNA?
