The domain name is now transferred and secured. The domain name has been transferred to me, and our buddy Andy (alk) has worked hard to devise a plan to restructure it to be far more user friendly, stable, and upgradable, and sustainable.В

We have the costs calculated to move the site to a new, more stable platform and update the software to something a lot less 90's and a lot more stable and user friendly. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to be able to easily post photos, keep track of threads you'reВ following, etc... It's time to give this site some life, and it needs a cash infusion to do so...

First, let me say this. Les' wife has been graciously paying the bills to keep us up and running while the courts did their thing and we figured out how to save the site. Every penny contributed will go to reimbursing her expenses first, and then to the site.

Second, this is strictly voluntary. If there is not enough interest in keeping the site active, no feelings will be bruised... As long as we reimburse Elaine's expenses I'm happy either way, and if need be I will do that out of my own pocket. Nobody is looking to profit from Boatered, just keep it running and with some luck revitalize it.

Okay, with that out of the way...

As of now, we owe her about $1500, she has paid $150 per month since Les passed and will need to pay it for about two more months to allow us to get everything moved without losing it. I have the bills she paid to back this up if anyone needs to see them. The new setup will be a fraction of this cost thanks to Andy's research and expertise!

The approximate cost to move the site to a new platform and get it all set up will be about $1500. That includes moving all of the current forums and posts over. Everything collected will go to the site and Les' wife first, with the leftovers going toward the move and keeping the site going.

I have set up a Paypal to collect donations.

They can be sent to:

boateredsite(at)gmail(dot)com

If you do not have Paypal or want to send a check, feel free to email me at that address.

Brian, please clarify. We email you the contribution info or do we log on to paypal somehow. Most of of us are oldish. :)

You can either go into Paypal and send it that way using that email address, or email me if you would like my physical address to send something via Pony Express...

Brian and Andy, thanks very much for doing this!

I have saved quite a bit of money doing things myself with the knowledge here.
The cost of education is not cheap, I have learned more than I can remember.

Plus it's kinda a tribute to Les!

Contribution sent.
