Been a long time since I have visited this site, good to be back. Owned a very nice 1999 Searay 215EC for 10 years, unfortunately had to sell the boat last fall. Now I am starting the process all over again, looking for that perfect boat for our family. The 215EC was a great, well built boat but I want some things differently on the next boat. Such as I really do not want another sterndrive. Looking around I came upon the Scout brand of boats, the Fish"N"Ski Dorado looks like a nice boat, open bow for the kids(never used the 215's cuddy), nice 4 cycle Yamaha. Only thing I am concerned with is the foam stringers. The SeaRay had wood, never a problem. The foam just looks so flimsy, does it provide the strength needed when glassed in? Here about the foam on some boat soaking up moisture, makes me hesitate going with the foam. Your thoughts please.

Scout makes a nice small boat. Don't worry about the foam, it does not add any structural property's to the matrix of the stringers and bulk heads.

Good to see you CS. We're still running our 215EC, but I wanted to mention I knew a man who sold materials (resin, etc.) to boat builders and visited plants. He rated Scout very high, among the best. If it meets your use needs, you should be satisfied with the construction.
Also, Scout has been shipping most, maybe all, of their boats with the outboard installed. I'd rate that a plus from an installation workmanship standpoint.

Scout makes an excellent boat. You can't get a better outboard than the 4 stroke Yamaha.
