On the belt driven water pump of a 7.4 merc Bravo II, It has two hose connected to it. These are on the back side of the pump. It appears the one from the out drive attaches to the bottom and the other attaches to the top. would this seem correct? Another question which may sound dumb, but were is the heat exchanger on this motor? New impeller, thermstat and the manifolds still feel hot. Could I disconnect one of the hoses going to the rasier and crank the engine and see it it is pushing water? I feel the top of the thermostat housing and it does not get really hot so water apparently is going to that. I am just being real care so as to not fry another $270 dollar ignition module. The raisers appear to be fairly new. Is there any way I can see if water is coming out of the exhaust? The boat is in the water. I can squeeze the hose and I do not feel alot of water going through them. Another issues is I Adjust the jets in or out and it does not effect the idle of the motor at all.It was a powell boat now in Colorado. I advanced the timing to 8 degree BTDC. The plugs were real sooty, should I put smaller jets in? the carb is a Quadra jet. Hope this is not to many issues to discuss. Thanks Tim
