SeaRay Boating Joystick Tech tested by PBM Member

Geeze, the CNBC Chief Nautical Correspondent Ryan Ruggiero seems to be a nautical idiot.

Sorry, I was talking about the guy in the studio querying the Brunswick CEO. Who was that?
My apologies to Ryan.

It's hard to tell who is stupider, "Mark" or the female anchor. Mark claims to be a boater - I highly doubt that he has ever even been ON a boat.

That was a horrible interview. They make it sound like Sea Ray invented it.

bad interview.
i just got a 09 silverton with volvo ips and all
i can say is "it's the cat's MEOW"

let the arguement begin..... forward facing props vs rear facing

Oh brother!! The Mark guy seems like a complete fool when it comes to boating...and the Sea Ray CEO strategy of putting more idiots who can't run a boat into 30 foot plus boats that they let "8-12 year olds run" just so they can sell more boats!!

The only negative issues i have been exposed to with this product is service and cost. The cost of these units out ways the standard inboard configuration that where use to. When it comes to the service or repair of them, you better go to school for a while and buy a bunch of specialty tools if you want to work on them yourself.

Which Silveton? tell me more :)

Al,
I am thinking "extended warranty", then when it's over, sell the boat :)

Well......to get the same advantages of the new joy stick system...... a standard inboard boat would need $15-18K worth of bow and stern thrusters.......so if the new pod system is $20-25K more then a conventional system........and no worry about thruster/battery failure.......wouldn't it be worth the $$$$ ???

I think so.

Bow thrusters are for people who don't know how to operate boats!

So is the new joy stick system !!!!

i think the anchor was the only one with common sense... she noted that it was a product for people who couldn't "parallel" park, then wondered about the effect of people who dont' know anything about boats getting on the water... smart girl..

they never really mentioned sea ray in this segment, did they? obvioulsy they used one as a demo but since this is a merc. product, it's part of Brunswick so yes, brunswick "invented" it.

a couple of years after volvo, as usual... :)

now all we need is some gizmo that will automatically deploy 7:1 scope based on water depth so that all those new "boaters" who can't multiply in their heads can safely operate a boat.

i'd love to know what happens when one drive is stuck one way, and the other one the otherway becasue one drop of water made it into a waterproof connector...

I thought they were called training wheels, or the third wheel on a tricycle.

Or people that have crap little **** boats like yours ;)

sounds like some of you kids are still using
rotary phones.
indoor plumbing, sissy stuff !!

What's a "rotary phone"?

I crank up my handle, Alice the operator comes on, asks "number Pleeeeaase?" and then connects me.

I'm surprised nobody has come up with an old crank phone with a computer chip simulating an operator and voice recognition to dial the number for you... would be a fun gadget. you could even program it to have the voice sound tired in the middle of the night, hungover on a saturday morning and real bitchy once a month. :)
