Hi All. I am planning to take the family to Seaside Heights for a few days. The only transient marina I was able to find was a town marina in Seaside Park called J Street Marina. Anyone have any input on the place. Any other recommendations?

It looks like the best route is through the Manasquan to Point Pleasant canal to Barnaget Bay. Any thoughts?

I'll start by saying that I have no personal experience staying as a transient at the marinas in Seaside Park.

There is also the Seaside Park Yacht Club.....

....Their website says to call about transient slips.

J-Street would be a shorter walk to the board walk....but both are about the same to the beach....

Your route is correct from Patchogue.

From the Manasquan inlet your first challenge will be the RR Bridge just inside the inlet. Depending on the day of the week and the time of the day, the traffic through the opening can be heavy....and confusing. It's a one-boat-at-a-time opening and everybody thinks that they have the right of way. The bridge is normally open unless there is a train coming....and then it's closed and the traffic builds....as soon as it opens again...the free for all starts all over again. Should be the vessel with the current at their stern has right of way....but good luck getting everybody to understand that one. Oh...and the CG have been there boarding boats on weekends....make sure your 'stuff' is up to date.

From there, you'll go under the Rte. 35 bridge and then on plane for a short distance to the PT. Pleasant canal....then it's no-wake till you get through the canal and all the way up to the Mantolooking bridge....unless you leave the ICW and go around the horn. Back on plane to the Mathus Bridge (aka Seaside Bridge) and then your almost there....just after ICW 36 you want to leave the ICW but be VEEERRRRYYY CAREFUL in that area....lots of low water....and not well marked...if marked at all. Call the Marina for better instructions approaching the marina you choose. From Manasquan inlet, budget 1 1/2 hours to the marina.

Good luck....

As Dominic stated be VERY careful in that area once you leave the ICW. At low tide you can walk in from the ICW to either of those places.

Thanks for the input.

We are traveling in on Friday and out on Monday. Hopefully we will miss the the traffic at the bridge (and the uscg :))

We just came back Monday from Port Jefferson and was stopped off of Eaton's Neck by the Coast Guard on a training exercise. They were teaching several new recruits how to do a safety inspection and we became the
classroom.

Passed with flying colors though but it just goes to show that any day of the week is fair game for a boarding.

Hi Guys.
Looking to return to Seaside with a few other boats and J Street does not have enough room. Does anyone know if Docksider Marina is still open? One number goes to a fax and the rest are disconnected. The Seaside Park Yacht Club is for members only. Anyone of you a member?

OBMC is a very long walk to Seaside heights.
