Seats or No Seats

So here is the dilemma. Admiral suggests we look at getting a larger/newer boat (good thing!). However, she wants one with the "seats built in." Right now we have a small cockpit with no seating. I use deck chairs, which allows me to add and subtract as needed.

We both want a larger cockpit. But I favor a large open wide beam cockpit with deck chairs (think Tiara). She wants all the fancy seats and stuff (think Sea Ray).

We are talking about an express type boat (30-35) feet. Fishing is not a concern.

What say you? Advantages/disadvantages? Thanks in advance.

I had a 36' express a few years ago and removed the built-in seats. Chairs are more comfortable to me because I can adjust my angle to the sun and lean back and prop my feet up.

IMHO the best chairs out there are the Kettler Tiffany series. They are heavy enough to stay in place while underway.

And, don't forget that what ever is back there will be used more at the dock than underway.

Yep, if your smart, Momma will tell you what kind of seats and where to put them.

Are you going to be using the boat for fishing? If so minimize the built in seats. Otherwise look at a boat with some built in and some open space. Then you can have your fixed seats and move them too.

If you go faster than displacement speed I don't feel comfortable in an unsecured deck chair.

Tale a look at the Formula 330SS if you looking for more of a day boat, or the Formula 34PC if you want a cruiser with more overnite capabilities.
