Sorry if this is a re-hash of an old topic, but I am wondering........those of you that have switched from the all-in-one controls to seperate shift & throttle controls, how was the transition? Which do you prefer?

I have always had stern drive boats with the shift and throttles on the same lever. But as we consider upgrading to a larger boat, the thought of inboards has been crossing my mind a lot. I do prefer stern drives, especially because I boat in a fresh water river where depths are unpredictable sometimes. Some stern drive models have seperate shift & throttle, like the Formula 34 & 37 PC. They use race inspired Gaffrig controls, which to me would take some getting used to.

What do you all prefer, and why?
