Over 100 years sitting on the bottom of the ocean, over 3000 meters down, and it looks remarkably well preserved!
Cold temps and low oxygen tends to preserve deep wrecks.

Still, very interesting.
 
Not unlike the Vasa in Stockholm harbor. Cold water and lack of worms left it well preserved. Once you raise it to the surface and expose it to air, it deteriorates very fast without preservation. They showered the Vasa for years with propylene glycol and it displaced the water and oxygen to preserve the wood. The wood now has a waxy finish to it, looks almost like plastic, but it is indeed the original.
