Shrink Wrap?

Triplethrees,

I purchased a Dr-Shrink heat gun DS-789. You can find info them on the web, Boat Fix does sell the supplies just check thier catalog, I think pages 76,77 and 78.

Dr-shrink has a pretty good video that will show you how to do it. Watch it a couple of times, then practice on some thing besides your boat. I shrunk wrapped my latter twice, just to get a feel of how the material would react, and to see how the heat gun handled. You will burn some holes in the material at first. I have done 6 boats now, and I am just getting to where I am not putting holes in the shrink wrap. The holes are easy to fix, either tape them up, or if the are big, just lay another piece fo shrink wrap over the hole and hit it with the heat gun again.

As for the time it takes, my first boat a 25' potoon boat took about 3 hours. The last boat a 24' deck boat to less then 2 hours. Most of the time, is setting up the frame work. You use 2x4's and woven strapping, it works great.

If you are just doing your boat, the first year is going to cost you a little more money, then paying to have it done, but after the hardware is purchased, the following years you will start saving money.

let me know if you have any more questions. If you want to give me your e-mail, I can you give you more detailed info.

Dennid check your email. I think I pulled your email address from what you posted. The forum puts extra charaters so you do not get spammed. If you do not get an email from post just your user name, I know it is either optonline.net or yahoo.com
