I just got my winterizing bill from a yard on the north shore, $22.00 per ft. for shrink wrap! I think it's a bit high. I can't find my original contract but I paid $17.00 a ft last year at a different yard. Anyone else on the north shore pay this much?

I've paid $9 a foot for the past two years.

Highway robbery!!!!

Look into the Kover Klamps system

I used the kover klamp system and a silver tarp. Next season I'll have a fitted Sunbrella cover over the kover klamps. I refuse to use shrink wrap because of the cost, the waste, and the damage to the environment. Hy

Taking a later train, and waiting for the car to warm up and melt some of the ice, I watched the video. Cool system.

I wonder if you can devise your own with PVC ? I have seen similar but simpler framing, that was homemade and seemed to work.

I don’t shrink wrap as I have a set of winter canvas, front, side plastics and back canvas, so my top is taking a beating this year.

I've been using a custom cover for my old 88 Four Winns for the past 5 years, I had to build a frame underneath out of wood and those fiberglass slats you can buy at West Marine to support covers. So far it's holding up fine under all the snow (and now ice) we had this winter. Canvas covers do not shed snow like shrinkwrap does though. If I had a newer boat I'd consider shrinkwrap but on a boat this old it's hard to justify the cost every winter. For a frame you can use a combination of wood/fiberglass bows or PVC pipes, either way will work.

My boats in the water and paid 10 bucks a foot. What they're charging you is obscene.

I agree...........I alway kept my boat in the water all winter..........It was $11.00 per foot.....including the door.....and it was twice as hard to do it in the water than on land.

It took a work boat and 2 guys about 5 hours to do.

If ur in a Marina that doesn't allow outside contractors ur kinda screwed !

My guy said he wasn't going to charge me more because his cost for shrink wrap stayed flat versus last year. I think you're getting hosed.

I believe I am getting hit for 20 a foot. Don't forget to ask for the reach around.

Rob, that is the situation. My yard doesn't allow outside contractors. It is my first season with them so I guess i'll take this an expensive lesson learned.

Just another reason I like the anchorage! Cheaper costs for everything, shrinkwrap, bottom paint, waxing.

The LaSala yard in Copiague charges me $16, a little high in my estimation, but at least it did not change from last year. Some folks do their own shrinkwrapping so they allow that.

Yup........La Sala B/Y is very good. I did all my short hauls there for years.....never had any problems.....and no problem using your own mechanic either.

Great place !

Wow, I thought I was getting charged a lot, but now I know I am. $22.50 per foot, and they tell me it's 55 feet.

Prices will vary based on style of boat (express, flybridge, etc)

Also,
I pay a little more because I want the shrink wrap to come all the way down to the bottom of the boat (where the bottom paint is)

I paid $13.00 per foot
My guy also installs vents, as well as a few packs of damp-rid.
