I have a 2005 2765 and the fresh water pump will keep running in a low speed mode and I swear I have no leaks at all. Do you think the pump it self is failing?? Anyone else had this happen??

with a diaphragm pump, if you get dirt or trash stuck in a valve it, the pump will not build pressure and keep running, slow if it's one of the variable speed model.

pop the cover and make sure nothing is stuck in there.

This sounds like the same issue Walter has on his Silverton.
At Champlins it started. Must be the crap in their water.
I swear they have some pretty rusty nasty water.
He fills his tanks and his water pump kept running, could not find any leaks.
I filter the water into my boat.

Thanks for your input but my water is pure because ever since I bought the boat new I used a prefilter in filling the fresh water tank and already checked the screens and everything is like brand new.

check teh diaphragm, if it's cracked it will leak water behind. Shurflo smart sensors dont 'have a weep hole (at least some...) so when that happens water pressure builds up behind the diaph and into the motor.

it will keep running (for a while) until the motor fails

had this happened to 2 pumps... both after a little over a year of full time live aboard use, Shurflo replaced under warranty and cfmd the diaph. have a fixed life span. they never explained why they didn't put a weep hole in the housing though...

Pascal,
Here is my problem, tell me what you think.

I have no leaks, if I run my water the pump does not shut down when I turn the water off, but if I cycle power, the pump shuts down. Run water again, turn water off, pump does not shut down unless I cycle power.

Walter

those smart sensor pumps are not that smart... yes, they use some electronic sensing module to regulate speed depending on demand but they still use a pressure switch. I kept an old one that failed (leak thru the diaph and ruined the motor), there is a little connector at the top for the switch. check that out. they do fail sometimes, I gave tghe switch to someone who had that exact problem... you may want to pull it out (4 screws to pull the cover) and check for blockage or something.

otherwise, check pull the top and check the diaph. for leaks. the ones that failed still had some pressure but nto enough to shut off.

it may be helpfull to install a sediment filter on the intake of the pump if you don't already have one. shureflo makes one specifcally for that. odd are the pump pressure switch has failed, you may be able to purchase a rebuild kit for it that includes the switch.

Does anyone know if the pressure switch on this pump is adjustable?????

Which pump???????

Shurflo has different models. On the electronic variable speed model, I'm pretty sure the pressure switch is not adjustable. On the Shurflo blaster (basically the same pump but non variable speed), there is a screw on top of the housing to adjust the switch.

Vic, I have one of those on my boat, looks like the filter on my raw water washdown pump. The first year I had the boat and was winterizing it, I removed a screen at the inlet of the pump, never put it back. I am just going to replace the pump, does boatfix sell these pumps?

looks like the 2088 is one of the smaller models, with a switch, not variable speed. the picture on the shurflo site shows a screw in the center of the pressure switch cover, so i guess it may be adjustable.

You are totally right, the center bottom screw is adjustible but since I screwed with it, it will shut off big time and now takes a bit to prime so i guess the best thing is to replace the pump. Will know more this weekend and keep everyone posted.

I did some adjustments and now it takes about 12 seconds to prime. It's being a bitch. It's to new to replace or is that normal? If I replace it any suggestions on a replacement? I can replace the same model for $100. Has anyone had this issue?
