Does anyone have a recent good GPS track or route for running snakehill channel they could possibly email to me? (any format) Looks like it could save around 3.5 miles off my friend's frequent journey from Copiague to FI inlet, and with the price of gas...this would be great, not to mention the time. He does not want to just go blindly by the GPS charts since they may not be accurate.
Or if someone could confirm that the Garmin mapsource Americas Bluechart V4.01 really was accurate, and we can just stay in the white area, maybe we would give it a shot.
Or any verbal advice on if you can make it in low or only high tide, what side to stay on.. etc is greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Xmurray

Yea, I guess that would be pertinant information! Sorry. He has a 23' Parker, cuddy cabin with a 200 Yamaha outboard. Maybe 7 or 8 years old. Not sure of the exact draft.

Thanks,

I would reccomend your friend get a towing membership if he plans on running snakehill. I wouldn't trust the charting software as the sholing tends to shift. I ran the channel last weekend at high tide and my garmin was showing me up on the islands. My suggestion is to wait and follow a big boat through at high tide...but don't follow to closly just in case the first boat plants it.
