Check out their reviews on Yelp. I cut and pasted the text of the review I wrote:
Prospective berthers beware! Trust me, I really wanted to like this place. My spouse and I were looking at marinas in the north delta and were curious about what Snug Harbor had to offer. As indicated in our past review of Arrowhead Harbor, we don't take well to places that are ruled with an iron fist. The best way I can put it for Snug Harbor, the place is ruled with an iron fist; except, the body to which the iron fist is attached has a fake smile permanently painted on it.
They are nice people. The marina is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the California Delta. The grounds are well maintained and snug cove (where the boathouses are located) has a sense of tranquility that can't be matched by any marina we've been to thus far.
First off, I walked to the office and spoke with Vicki (the manager) and was given a map of the resort and directed to the area where my boat would call home. I was impressed and decided to bring my spouse to see the place. She was impressed as well. We expressed interest in wanting to berth our boat there, and were told we need to complete an application and get approved before we were even allowed to see the berthing agreement. I figured the berthing agreement would be like that of any other marina, so I filled out the application and paid the $35 fee. They wanted pics of our boat and required a considerable amount of information from us. This actually impressed us since we felt they were picky about the berthers. With that said, we received a call from Vicki a few days later stating the owner has reviewed your application and has decided to invite you to sign a berthing agreement. I was told they require a $500 deposit (excessive, but a good way to keep unpleasant people away). I agreed and asked her to email the berthing agreement.
Upon reading through the berthing agreement, I FREAKED OUT! They had the audacity to include the following provisions in it (summarized below):
1. The marina is allowed to move your boat to another slip. In so doing, they can cause as much damage to your boat and they will not be liable for it, even though the damage may be due to negligence.
2. Two guests are permitted per month free of charge. If you bring more than two guests per month to your boat, the guests must register at the front desk and pay a fee. (WTF??????)
My son would technically be a guest since he isn't on the berthing agreement and being three years old, is not able to enter into a contract. Hence, he can join us on cruises twice a month for free or pay otherwise.
If I wanted to meet a friend on my boat for lunch, or if we took a cruise with our friends, they would need to register at the front office and pay????? Again, WTF?????????
3. Only six people are permitted on the boat at a time? We have a 28 foot boat and often take cruises with 7 or 8 people on board. Since when does a marina have the right to tell me how many people are allowed on MY boat?
4. $5 per month for throwing away trash? Yes, if you even have a small bag of trash after your cruise, you will be charged $5 per month if you choose to throw it away in their dumpster.
5. They charge you $15 per month to send you a bill. This fee can be avoided by paying berthing fees in advance.
I had HUGE concerns about the first two items above. I wrote Vicki a friendly email asking for clarification on them and never received a response. A week past, so I called the office and left several messages for her and none of my calls were returned.
It seems obvious to me they expect people to blindly sign these insanely restrictive berthing agreements and blindly agree to these policies. Me thinks not.
Regardingly the last two items (and the 2nd one, to an extent), I'd rather pay higher berthing fees than endure these superficial charges. In fact, I currently AM paying higher berthing fees and I don't need to pay to use the trash or receive a bill.
They also have WIFI, but they charge for it. They try to get out of taking responsibility for how unpleasant being charged for WIFI is by saying "Sorry, we have no control over it. The company that provides internet access sets the rates. You need to call them." Give me a break. How stupid do they think we are!? They simply don't want to pay for the service, the equipment, and its maintenance.
As I said, I really wanted to like this place. It would have been a great place to spend time, but their policies make it impossible to enjoy what it offers.
And lastly, the approach into the harbor is very shallow. At low or negative tide, I was told it is about a foot and a half deep. I was willing to live with this an time our cruises according to the tides, but the negatives overwhelmingly prompted me to avoid berthing my boat here.
