Just got the official word from the Admiral that all the remaining fall weekends are now booked...no time for the boat so we might as well put it away.

On the good side we managed to sideswipe any family obligations during the summer months and enjoyed many weekends on Fire Island and a 6 day/5 night stint out east on the hook at Watch Hill and Block Island with a night at the MYC. Heck we even introduced our newest pet, Pork Chop - the micro pig, to boating.

We also just added a 13' 1970 Whaler Sport and and stand-up paddle board to our collection of toys so we are already looking forward to next year while the planned restoration on the Whaler will keep me busy during the long winter months.

For those of you I saw this season, it was great to hang out with you. For those I didn't, I hope to see you next year.

LOL I've never heard of a pig on a boat! Watch out that no one puts him on the Barbee. Good luck with your Whaler restoration....pics of your progress would be nice.
 
So you have a dog named French fry, a dog named milkshake, and a pig named pork chop?
Gizmo want's to know what time is lunch?

Pigs swimming in the bahamas!! Never would have believed it til I saw it first hand!! Pigs can swim just fine...and beg at the same time!
 
The pet names are cute and all, but my question is why did you let the Admiral schedule your weeks, before the boat is out of the water? I already have my 2013 schedule made up, Every weekend from April 1st to Nov 2nd, has boating written in ink.

LOL. Dave, Gizmo can come over for a meal anytime.

And, I can't really complain...the Admiral holds everyone at bay all summer long (she even makes people take a ferry to FI if they want to hang with us). Unfortunately the fall means school and, this year, 53 or so Bat Mitzvahs that my daughter is being invited to.

I'll definitely keep a log on the whaler.

Oh and one more note...the Formula is about to go up for sale on Yacht World as we are looking to go up to 40' Formula or 41' Searay. Keeping my fingers crossed to find a buyer as I already have IDed the potential replacement(s).
 
you know...a pig on a boat would not be such a strange sight to see down on the TN River where our pilothouse is at! :)
 
How often do you have to walk breakfast or was it pork chop?
 
Depressing is looking at the hour meter on my searay and realizing I only put 3 hours on both motors this season. Ive used the smaller boat a ton, just no time for over nights or anchoring
 
Matt, that just means you have to use it much more next season!

If you own a pig, do you still eat bacon?
I would not feel comfortable eating a bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll in front of him!

Jeff you better keep an eye on that pig. There was an article today on yahoo about there being a bacon shortage next year.
 
I've been having an on-going discussion with the Admiral over the fact that I didn't use the boat that much this season. It's actually my own fault, as she let me know. I've simply not found the time even though I'm semi-retired. The summer just seemed to rush by. I promised her and myself that next season will be different. I managed to beat cancer this year and know that life has a way of throwing us curveballs when we least expect it. Plan for next season, but don't let it too get away from you. Jeff: I remember when each of our four kids were in the 12-14 year-old age group and had a Bar/Bat Mitzvah scheduled almost every weekend. I think I put on an extra 10k miles of driving those years. Add to that that I have 8 nieces and my head starts to spin. Try to enjoy them if you can; there's always next season. Hy
 
I think everyone judges "how they use their boat" differently.
I don't put alot of hours on my boat, I don't need to.
I slept on boat every weekend just about since April.
Waking up, walking out, seeing the bay, sunrise, sunset, dog running into water, hanging with friends, etc.
This is how I judge my boat and it's value.
Sure I love running my boat and going to different places, but that is not the only reason I own the boat.
I have a million dollar view behind my boat.
If I didn't own a boat, I would be bored off my ass.
I would never know what to do over the summer!
In fact, I want to get a smaller boat, like a bowrider to buzz around on those days I don't want to unhook the big boat!
And a bigger boat is in my mind, but that is gonna wait a few more years as I am at max beam in my slip now!
