Today I had one of the worst days at work imagnable. I was in a bad mood and wanted nothing to do with anyone when I got home. My brother convinced me to take the boat out and all is better. Life is good again. Here are few pics from today I thought I would share. Enjoy.

Ok, so this weekend we decided to try and see if this boat can make it into the sand hole at Oyster Bay
Melanie said WTF, we messed-up the props on the south shore last week what do we have to loose!
I made sure we went at high tide and had no issues
So here are a few shots:

Andy good job! It goes a long way towards convincing Deb that we can do that place. After she saw some photos of people that were left high and dry she wanted no part of it.

I should have the tracks on the laptop that I keep on the boat.
I am in DC now, but when I get to the boat this weekend I will copy the tracks and send it/them to you
I still feel it’s as much of an art as well as a science but the track will help
Let us know if/when you guys are coming over and we will try to meet you- it’s only 20+ minutes for us

Did you also leave at the next high?

The commander of the oyster bay power squadron just today sent out an alert to all members that he touched bottom going in and out of the sand hole at near low tide at the outer entrance. He draws just over 3ft.

Yes, I may be dumb but I'm not stupid!

We came & left at high tide – would have liked better control of my travel but we had a great time and may do it again this weekend
 
The email I received was interesting in that the low spot was at the outer entrance near the breakwater. He didn't touch inside when you make the turn.

Sorry, I don't think you are dumb or stupid, I was wondering if you stayed for the duration of the cycle or left at mid-tide.

I was joking ;-)
I draw 42" and I feel if I go between 1.5 hrs before and after HT we will be ok
I agree it's tightest at the red square

I know you were kidding...just yanking your chain:)

3 hrs is a decent window for getting in and out and I assume that the tide is not yet running strong through the inlet. My own preference was to run against it going in or out since it is so narrow. Beautiful spot once you are in but I'm too chicken with a 50" draft.

Boat looks great.

BTW: there was a half a dozen sail boats there at times and some were better then 40ft
They must draw more than you
