Local news just reported South Korean ship just sunk.

Edited: last nights report was wrong stated originally it was North Korea , 700+ passengers and no deaths. The ship was still afloat when it aired. This AM report was completely different.
 
Mostly High School students and teachers going on a class trip very sad!
 
The thing must have been very top heavy. Apparently all it took was a hard over on the wheel to get it to capsize. The Captain deserved to be arrested, leaving 300 kids on board to die.
 
Yeah, the hull looked a bit shallow for the over all height.

Footage from the ship appeared to show instructions from crew members for passengers to remain on board even as it tilted dramatically to one side.

Mr Lee says he delayed the evacuation, fearing passengers would "drift away"..."

Does not sound to me as though there was any emergency protocol in place. No foreplanning. ie: Unprepared.
 
I was a young G.I. in Korea, 1958/59. We were expressly forbid to ride any Korean Public Transportation.
I imagine this boat accident and a Couple Train accidents were the sound reasoning.
