Probably a stupid question, but are there any gas stations open on the south shore?
 
Direct marine fuel?
I heard frank and dicks was open but I can't confirm.
Anchorage is dead.
Bergen is dead. Drove by there.
 
I called direct marine fuel this week, and they said they were waiting on a shipment, but she made it sound like i may be less priority because I never bought from them before. I would have used them, but SS3 would not let them in. I will call them again this week. From the pics I saw, I figured Frank and Dicks were going to need to rebuild.

I was wondering if one of the gas stations in Babylon got lucky and did not get badly damaged.
 
Gulf station in babylon cove lost a tank. I can attest,cause I smelled it! What a mess. You may have to try a place way up a river. There is a place in bay shore way up there...can't recall name...I will ask my father in law. He docks near there. I know gas dock right at bayshore marina is out. Gonna be a mess for some time
 
I was at Bergen Point today about 1PM.

They are pumping but it is cash only as they can't do credit card transactions with their phone service down.

They are pumping diesel and regular 87. I watched a fairly large $$ boat fill, so I guess the quality of fuel is good. They had new tanks put in like 2 seasons ago, and looks like they did not sustain much damage from what I saw.
 
Rob, I wanted to use Direct, but from my conversation with a woman there this week, it sounded like it may not be an option.

if bergen has fuel, i will fill up there tomorrow.

Good news! We have another 1000+ gallons of gas. Come by between 9am and 4 pm Saturday and Sunday.
 
Remember most tanks are underground. At AYC on rocks I found a cover to a underground fuel tank. So they may of gotten water in their tanks. For Irene I know for a fact Bergen did and he said he threw it all away and had his tanks polished. Just be careful.
 
Buying fuel of any kind on the water could be risky. I would wait for either Marine Fuel Direct or Rising Tide. If that isn't an option you might be better off gathering all the 5 gallon containers you can borrow and putting enough in to get you by.
 
Today, I filled up my tanks with over 275 gallons of fuel. Yes, I ran her way too low, someting I will never do again! Boat ran well after the fill up, but i will check for water in the racors next wwekend. The owner of Bergen Fuel assured me his fuel had no water. He also has gas if anyone needs.
