With the thought of having our boat in Greenport or the Peconic running to the SS via shinnicock is a no-brainer. So the question is what are the must see/do places on the SS?

I looked at the Long Island Boating Info sticky and there was some info on a half a dozen Favorite Anchorages and Westhampton Beach Town Dock- which we've been to and like.

What else and why?

Can you really pass through all the shallow water in route to Great Shallow Bay????

Go East young man.

Both ;-)
Because of the prop tunnels our boat draws only 42"-+, so at less than 4' we should be ok as long as we watch what we're doing.

Gotta go to Sailers Haven near the end of June before it gets too crowded and walk over to Cherry Grove for dinner. It's a beautiful marina, short walk to the ocean, nature trail and an artsy "happy" dinner destination.

Not kidding.

I second that, and if not in June then Mid Sept and early Oct. Love that place !

Weekdays are nice at Zachs Bay or Hemlock Cove. Then again, just about anyplace is good during the week. The south shore takes on a whole different personality between Saturday morning and Sunday night.
