SPBM

You cannot compare a truck exhaust with a boat exhaust. The truck has big stacks that dump the exhaust way above the cabin, boats have exhausts at, or below, the water line. When boats are rafted-up, there is little space between them to dissapate the exhaust.

Agreed, the diesel exhaust is less deadly, but it still contains CO.

If you want to run your genny all night, or smell someone else's diesel fumes all night, then raft-up with Dave...

Jonathan you are welcome to raft up anytime!

I can't wait for Spring I'm getting the itch early this year.

I have a question.

I have been following this thread diligently since it's early beginnings. Being from the right side of the river, I have nothing to add in regards to SPBM...other than not sure what the beef is...which in itself is...nothing to add.

My question is NOT about generators. Although years ago, I was rafted with two ROs here and my CO detectors went off in cabin where my then very young kids were sleeping. Very scary!! I had no genset, guy next to me turned his off, then the boat on next to him had to turn his off to stop alarms. We left (as planned) but it was a major lesson....downside is HUGE!

My question is a simple one.... I'm sure it's obvious but how do you tell when a page is about to turn? I just don't see it.

After fifty posts (on the 51st) there is a new page.

OK. being the trucker in the group I can tell you Diesel fumes CAN BE DANGEROUS.
see below:
Diesel engines are common in commercial trucks, passenger cars, boats and trains. Diesel fuel and exhaust fumes can be dangerous to heath for some persons. The danger of exposure to diesel fuel fumes can include both acute or short-term health effects and chronic or long-term effects. Diesel fumes may account for over 500 additional cases of lung cancer per 100,000 people, according to the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment.

So every captain can decide for himself.

on another note being i have almost a week worth of membership I think SPBM stand for Stony Point Bay Marina. anyone correct me if i am wrong.
also and again correct me if i am wrong there are 50 posts per page. Hogan/Dave/Hank???

Correct on all accounts. This is the 886th reply so the page will turn after the 900th.

I figured it was something obvious and simple!

I was hesitant to ask but remember there is no such thing as a dumb question.

Now, I've met many dumb bastards in my life time but never a dumb question!!!

Carry on with your SPBM rage....I didn't mean to interrupt.

Did they build the fiberglass shop over there?

Chinese Proverb:
He who asks a question is a fool for five minutes; he who does not ask a question remains a fool forever.

My partners dad is a very successful business man. we have partners meeting about once a month, he always start the meeting saying the same thing: "I am going to ask some dumb questions". needless to say his "dumb" questions lead us to the best decisions.

Allen you are to late I heard they gave away your slip:) I paid over a month ago not taking any chances considering the increase demand for slips this year.

Good morning Mike. Looks like today we turn 19, by the end of the weekend maybe 20.

At our boat club, we are expecting less of a demand for slips. Based on the fact more people exited from boating than entered this year.

Even before the storm many boaters from near by marinas were relocating to Haverstraw. Main reasons are deep water, pool etc... Now if some of those marinas want be able to repair on time there will be higher demand in Haverstraw where not a lot of boats were damaged during the storm. I got some scratches from a smaller boat that was floating with its trailer and that was the worse of it for me.
