Speed in the North Channel

Yesterday, while out cruising, I noticed several boats on plane in the north channel between Amityville and Seaford. I wanted to clarify where the no wake zone is. The way I read the signs is that this channel becomes no wake as you reach the shore in Seaford, What would be along the Wantagh parkway and does not end until you just about reach the amityville cut. I know at high tide you could cut straight across but i'm not that brave so i stay within the bouys. I dont mind that it takes me a half hour to move through this area, I just didn't like the birds that were flying toward me for going slow in marked channel. Does the no wake zone end and pick up again in another area or was I correct in my assumption that it is all a no wake area?

That whole area is a no wake zone. I haven't been through there in ages though for just that reason. If the tide is out and Goose Creek "S" Channel Cut is not an option i'll take the State Boat Channel past Zachs and then hit the Amityville Cut to the N side of bay. Is it shorter? I think so. I remember that speed zone being super long and loaded with mean greenies and no see ums....not fun.
