Splash Dates?

As boaters we alll have an obligation to collect and/or report any debris.
I regularly pull wood, plastic bags, and any floating object I can easily and safely retrieve.
If I can't, I will usually contact the Coast Guard such as the time I saw a floating piece of a telephone pole.

Please, if we all have this attitude, boating this year will be better.

I have a friend involved with their cause and it seems legit. It's our playground and also our duty to keep the water clear.

That's the attitude to have though. From floating water bottles to picnic tables and telephone polls - it needs to get out of the water.
 
Im in and running perfect. New zincs, bottom paint and replaced a trim tab piston. Cold though...

anyone gonna join before she's sold?! lol
 
I pull a lot of crap out of the canal. It's not unusual to find stuff between my boat and the bulkhead. Easy enough to scoop out and bag up. I just wish the Town would pick it up at the curb next to the dock instead of having to lug it home. Not a big deal though.
 
Evan, I know when operation splash the grover's were very involved with it out of freeport. I've seen them do a lot of cleanup on the bays.
 
Mike - their website says something to the effect of 30 tons picked up last year. I can only imagine what's down there this year after Sandy.

They have a thing in Freeport this Saturday, but I can't be there. Will likely check it out in the future.
 
I'm always pulling crap out of the bay. What really get's me is when I stop at one of the islands to hang out and find old furniture, coolers, full party's abandoned in lieu of packing out their trash for whatever lazy reason.........
 
Just made mine for 4/27. Not in a big rush to get in too early this year and need a little time to finish up some stuff on the house before I concentrate on the boat.
 
Just took my last ride on our former boat. She ran great, passed the survey with flying colors. I almost didn't wanna sell. Was a really cold day out there, but still enjoyable. Now the search begins so I can splash again soon.

Probably a cruiser in the 32' - 35' range. Something to really spend some long weekends on and start to explore the area a little more.

You getting excited for your new adventure? Is she here yet?
 
I'm getting anxious and excited, still working on a name. She gets picked up tues and will be here friday morning. I heard of a 34 sundancer for sale recently.
 
I'm looking at either the weekend of 4/27 or 5/4, it all depends on weather and what non boating chores I can complete before the weather really warms up.

Congratulations on the sale of your old boat, and good luck with the hunt for the new one. 32' - 35' is a great size range.
If I were looking in that range now the one thing I think I'd make a priority is a seperate shower stall.
I personally have no problem with the whole head as a shower idea, and I use it a lot. My wife on the other hand is another story. She doesn't like it at all and claims she would spend more nights on the boat if we had the seperate shower.
 
Mke, that has to be so exciting! Names are such a difficult part, any thoughts so far? Sounds like you're going to have a great weekend going through her.

Any more details on the sundancer? Local? Year?
 
Thanks so much! That's a really interesting point about the shower stall - we barely used our shower on the boat now for that reason and just figured that's the way it is (no we don't smell, but just don't spend extended stays at places without showers)...I personally would rather rinse off on the transom with some shampoo then take a full shower in that cramped little booth, but if it had we had the room that would just be great. I'm 6'3" and it'd have to be a pretty good size shower to really work.

There really seems to be a difference between a 32' boat and a real 35'.... Going to look for the best combo of age/size/price.
 
Froze my you know what's off this weekend painting/Zincs Shrink Wrap removal, plugs, cleaning props and shafts, etc etc. All running gear ready to go. Now just a quick hull wax below the rub-rail and all done.......just in time for winter storm....(sigh).....
 
I have a camping trip with my son's Boy Scout Troop this weekend, but the kids are off from school next week. I think I'm going to keep my schedule clear too. If the weather turns better and I can convince my kids to come give me a hand, I might be able to get the bulk of the bottom painting, and waxing done before Easter.

Not sure what year you are looking for, but there is a 36 foot Rinker up here on the Lake, freshwater only, nice boat. Couple is going through a divorce, so you never know.
Check it out on the Plattsburgh craigslist.
