yep that time of year ....

First week of march.... ( or so i hope )

Hopefully, some time in May. I'm recovering from shoulder surgery and won't even be able to drive for at least another week. All winter projects went put on hold. Hy

Wow, that's balls. Especially with the cold we had... Id love to try it but scares the crap out of me .

Rob , never again. Having some engine work done at Dieseltech and he wanted it on his service dock for the winter. I shoveled the deck once, and was running there several times a week in January. Made me way to nervous

Can’t wait to get back in.
Going to be in Italy for close to 2 weeks in late March and early April. Hoping for mid to late April. I’d like to get a couple of warm days in mid March before I leave to do all the impellers and engine zincs. That way when I get back all I have to do is uncover, paint the bottom, replace zincs, and apply another two coats of wax below the rubrails.
I polished and put two coats of wax on the hull Thanksgiving weekend so I’d have a head start in the Spring.

Your response is timely. I’ve been going back and forth about staying in at my dock next year. Most of the bigger boats on my canal stay in, wrap in the water with a door, and then come out for a late Spring short haul.
Admittedly, most of them live on the canal and I don’t.
It sure would be nice to stay plugged in to my own electric at my own dock and take advantage of the boat on semi warm winter days. Maybe hang out once in a while with some take out, a little electric heater going and watch a movie or something.
I’ve been trying to plug in for a day or so every couple of weeks in the boatyard just to keep the batteries topped off but someone keeps unplugging me.
Went and plugged in Saturday afternoon, came back Sunday to find I was unplugged. Not sure when I got unplugged, so I plugged it back in. Went to unplug it today and found it unplugged again.
Came home swearing I was staying in next year because of this annoyance, came on this forum, and read your post.
Now I’m up in the air again.

Looking at weather , I'm unwrapping this week. snow tonite then noting but good stuff. Winter is over..

Should be in the water by march 1st ...

KEYWORD .. SHOULD

Rob

How do you bottom paint below 55 degrees?

I still need to get props done. Picked up a ding last year and need to get all 4 props reconditioned!

Props should have been off already and sent to Bozzler. Bottom paint is scheduled for this Wednesday.

Waves and wheels will follow suit.... THEN SPLASH

March1st? Wow! That’s fantastic. Wish I had the stones to do that.

Every time I push my luck and launch early I regret it. Even uncovering early I have had issues. I uncovered once during a light flurry which turned into a heavy wet snow which trashed my canvas, this was a costly mistake! I'm not in a huge rush this year I haven't gotten the bug yet been busy with work I haven't even been on my boat since it was wrapped.
This said glad to hear others are starting to at least make plans already!

I have winter stored in water 15 of the last 16 years. Boat behind the house, I can see it from my bedroom window & from my deck.

If I had that setup it would be a no brainer for me to stay in the water for the winters.
I’m only 7 1/2 miles from my dock, but I don’t know if I can commit to driving there every day or so to check on it.
Still up in the air though. I’ll see what next fall brings.

A hard top makes all the difference in the world . I took delivery of her in the snow. SHE LIKES IT ..lol

Winter is over huh? I am blaming this weather on you and that comment!!!

We are in deep winter here in VT, not that far north of LI. Did you end up going in?

Ordered zincs yesterday. Snow expected, again, on Monday or Tuesday. Spring may be here by June, maybe! Hy

Have Zincs, Impellers and fresh filters sitting in my garage waiting to go.
If the weather doesn’t turn soon I may just have them splash the boat and do it all at my dock at my leisure.
