Actually the Robins don't leave, you have to look hard for them though. When the Slate Colored Junco's and White Throat Sparrows leave, we are in the clear.
I have officially contributed to the board
"Pete keep an eye on the hydrology reports for the Rondout. Heads up!"
Oh Jesus! Not again! I could use a spring without such troubles. Besides, the workboat has a hole in it. I really don't want to have to start bailing!!!
Pete I hear you. We are sweating out having to visit the marina tomorrow so that Dan can crawl around in the bilge connecting hoses etc..
When it's at least 50 outside it ain't bad... But being in the bilge in the 30s is no fun when it comes to bangin' knuckles.
With only 15 days until Spring March is on it's last gasp. All in all it felt as if the Winter went pretty fast? Partly due to a New Years 7 day cruise but still went by fast? This weekend we turn the clocks to back so it's getting real close>>>>>>>>>>>
I was up in your neck of the "woods"" today and it has been a long time since I saw water moving like it was today. I had to go to a NYPA power plant in Gilboa, which I think is very close to the end of the world. Crossed the Esphous Creek (sp?) several times as I went out route 28 and the water was raging. In the afternoon I did notice that the creek was quite calm down along side the Thruway though. I thought this was strange compared to how it was flowing upstream.
We stopped by the marina a few minutes ago and things looked well enough. We are at the predicted crest. The tide is out which helps quite a bit. I didn't see things looking bad at all at RYB. Hopefully the Anchorage faired well also.
One more hurdle (storm) coming this weekend. Hopefully the meltdown continues and gets a chance to run off.
The Esopus looks like they are predicting a dip and a second rise we won't see at RYB so Saugerties is going to have more fun yet. Out on 28 you probably got to see the spillways dumping from the Ashokan which is rumored to be spectacular. It has yet to crest. Our concern is that they will dump that into the Rondout and then things get ugly for everyone.
Take a look at what ended up in our parking lot (courtesy of Tracy, our dockmaster):
Hmmm, now THAT is not supposed to be THERE!!! In case anyone's wondering, here is where it SHOULD be, when the gazebo is put up:
I guess we got more water up there than I thought! Either that or they got a little nervous and towed the decks out of harm's way. I'll have to find out more tomorrow!!!
