SS props

I have a chance to get a SS prop at a reasonable price.(Cabelas made by Stiletto Performance Props). My current factory aluminum prop is 15 x 17. The SS is 14.25 x 17 cupped right hand. I asked the dealer & was told that my rpm's will go WAY high. That I need a 14.5 x 17 if I want to go SS. Will .25" make that much of a noticeable difference? The motor is a year 2k Merc 150 outboard. Thanks
