Status of Watch Hill Improvements

See there is the difference, real boaters with Cruisers or Silvertons, the girls just come by and say, "Oooh nice Cruiser Yachts, can I come aboard and check it out?"...thats when the wife gets into show off mood and says, "sure"...then after that....well I can't repeat that part....
 
To be honest CurrentSea, Cruisers Yachts are excellent and are definitely on my short list of boats I like. Especially that new 390 Sport Yacht and the 395 MY. Those are two of my favorits next to the 42 Sundancer and the 40SB.
Then again, I consider myself lucky to be able to own a boat at all, especially since I am unemployed and since I grew up in city projects in Red Hook, Brooklyn and the closest we ever came to a boat was a popsicle stick floating in a rain puddle with some ants on it. [:-bouncy]

Dave, that is only because they learned how to read the emblem.... ;)

It’s funny that I once mentioned to my wife how boats are “Chick Magnets” At least Sea Rays are. She then reminded how her stock options played a major role in the Boat’s down payment. Ya… I got that look again… [:-snooty]

I'm in and dewinterized.......cover comes off Saturday morning.......I'll be out on the bay in the afternoon.

Then she wants her boat in.......

Way to go Don!!:D Looks like you have enough guys who want to help you clean her up and get her ready. No sense in me coming over to help clean. You know, too many cooks spoil the broth etc. etc. I think I'll just come down when you are ready to take her out for a spin! [}:)]

Im helping another friend bring his boat around from sayville to the anchorage on saturday...

Then back to merrick to load and then a ride if its not low tide....

tide yesterday was real low ... I was in the mud... I dont like that....

Well since saturday was so nice... we took a ride to watch hill......

WOW am i disappointed... The resturant appears to be the only concern. It is completed on the outside all new exterior. new roof etc. the rest of the buildings gift shop , the ranger thing.... all still same falling apart, Roofs are worse then ever.

They exteneded the dock half ass on the west side of the restuarnt . 2 different color trex . 1/2 the old trax put down last year has cum up either from nail screw failure, or the old decking rotting out... either way they got a ton work andno one doing it. They are using same material on the new work so its going to happen there.... the nature trail is showing the same failures... same material.

Water sipgots that broke last year have not been replaced.... alot electrcial stantions on A dock are all taped up.

Sand washing tru the dock on D dock is off the scale.... every slip at low tide looks like giant sand bar. I thought when they put the new decking on ... they repaired behind the bulk head. Not the case. So when they decide to rebulk head I guess thenew decking will go too.....

What shame why do all this work twice... If u see the product ur getting or is donated is crap...... chnage the game plan ....

sadly not the case.... but again... they wasted to expense on the resturant.

They did not move any poles so large slips are limited. no electric on the days slips.

and alot of the old decking ( wood ) is is awful shape ....

PS winter buoys are still there for the watchill entrance so u have to use the entry lights off the first entry buoy...

AGAIN.....our tax dollars hard at work.

Sounds like it will be a mess for the May 12 & 13 SS3/MM Watch Hill party.
 
One has to wonder where our money goes. I paid a small fortune in tax this year.
I would love to see a budget report for Watch Hill. This place must make money, so where does the profit go?
 
I dont think our tax money pays for this .... i think its the agreement with the concession company....

so u know cheap way out ....

Yeah but the concession company is under contract. So they need to do it.
The longer they delay, the more they make and then they can bail without doing it.
I even belong to FOWH and I have seen more done with that money than the slip fees I pay.
