I should know what the problem is with this but I can't put my finger on it.
Boat: 36 Trojan Tricabin. Power: two Chrysler 280 small block V8s (280hp).
Port engine runs perfect, plenty of power and still increasing when I run into the problem.
Starboard engine *seems* to run perfect, starts and idles perfect and seems to be putting out identical power as the port engine. BUT, when going on plane, I get to a point where both engines are at 3,000 rpm and the starboard engine will not increase it's RPM no matter what I do.
I thought it might have been old cables on the throttle (stretching at that point) so I replaced the cables. Same result. The port engine still has loads of room to go and will get up to 3600 by itself but can't go higher as the starboard engine isn't doing it's job. No matter how much throttle is increased on the starboard engine, it will not increase RPM one whit. It also doesn't stall or flood even when the throttle is drastically advanced?!?!?!?
WTF is going on here? Is this a mechanical failure in the starboard carburetor?
As I said before, below 3k rpm both engines respond identically, put out the same power, sync up nicely and the boat moves dead straight with a centered rudder.
