I'm away on vacation (in Chatham, MA), and there's a lot of eel grass in the harbor where I'm mooring my boat. My generator's strainer got clogged with it. I cleared it no problem, and would now like to check the engine strainers. It's a new boat, and I haven't done this before. The seacocks for the engines won't budge. The engines are Cummins QSC 8.3's (500HP). Anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to wait for the strainers to clog to figure out how to close the seacocks. Firstly, can I assume that they open counter-clockwise? The other seacocks on the boat do. There's a cap over a bolt at the end where the handle rotates, should I try loosening that bolt?
