Hey guys, running outside from Tampa Bay to Sanibel later today. Plan to go in at Stump Pass to anchor overnight at a favorite hole there.

Anyone been through Stump Pass in the last 30 days or so? I remember last summer it was pretty shallow.
 
Last through there about 10 months ago. It's always a strong current and and the channel always seems to be changing. Be careful.

i saw about a 50' sportfish run it over labor day weekend.

personally i have never done it.

have a safe trip, and wish i were going.
 
Well, we're here on the hook. We went out at Sarasota pass (also skinny water, but well marked) and ran outside to Venice inlet. We found 2 foot swells with a long period between them. Nice run. Ran the "ditch" down and stopped about 200 yards north of Stump Pass. We left Twin Dolphin at around 2pm and dropped the hook at 5:30pm.

We'll explore Stump Pass in the morning for safe passage and update our charts accordingly.

Headed down to Cayo Costa and then Sanibel to do some exploring with the kids. Planning to be out through Saturday night before a front moves in.

Anybody been through lately? Headed south w/ the neighbors to Casey Key and were thinking about heading to the White Elephant for an afternoon...on the outside (weather permitting) at Venice inlet and going in at Stump....

Stump was fine. There were a bunch of boats hanging out just inside the pass looked really fun but the White Elephant was calling.

The ride from the pass to the Elephant was fantasic and unspoiled as we made our way..
