Suggestions for a brand new head...

Blake/Lavac is a manually-operated vacuum toilet, although they do offer an electric pump for it ($$$). They are especially popular with international sailboaters, as the manual version requires no battery power. They work well and are pretty much trouble-free. The only downside for us Yanks is that they're made in England; getting spare and replacement parts can somethimes be a challenge here in the U.S.
 
Craig (Monterey10), keep a spare joker valve on hand (# C253) and you should be good for several years. Should the situation develop where the toilet doesn't want to empty the bowl, the cuplrit is usually the joker valve. That's a lot cheaper than buying a whole repair kit, to get just the joker valve. Many distributors carry them - BoatFix, too.
