I was wondering if anyone could tell me about a 320 sun runner classic good or bad
 
Excellent boat - what do you want to know?
 
I have the opertunity to aquire one inexspensively that ofcourse needs some work. not being familair with the brand was woundering if it was worth it.is sun runner a model name or the manufacture
 
I have owned 4 SunRunners, a 220CV, 245SB, 280 Classic and now 380 SunBridge.

SunRunner manufactured boats in the state of Washington until 1991, they were expanding onto the east coast, but the economy, poor management and the "luxury tax" did them in.

They built an extremely solid boat, using well known and still available parts.

Get a survey done and if the price is right - go for it!
 
They are well built boats that were made here in Spokane, Washington. There are a lot of them still running and looking pretty good after all of these years. They had a 20 - 21 foot that had issues with porpoising but it was still a very popular boat. I happen to run into the designer one day and he admitted that one flaw in that model. The rest were very well built with a good layout and quality materials.
 
thank you so far i like what i hear before i buy i am going to have a profesional look her over. how is ride quality on the boats of this size
 
My 280 road great, went through some big waves in LI Sound and never had a problem. Make sure you take it for a test ride.

what year is it? Does it have Volvo's or Merc's?
 
the boat is a 1989 twin 5.7 volvo duo props non running engines
 
The non-running engines will slow you down ;)
I actually bought one of HOGAN's SunRunners from him, the 280. To say that boat ran great is an understatement. For a 28'er (32LOA) with a 10' beam, it had twin 5.0L with duoprops. Needless to say, that's alot of engine for a boat this size. My buddy who is very proud of his 23'er with 5.7L challenged me to a race....I had six guys on board and he had two yet we still beat him. The boat topped out at ~42mph. I've been caught in nasty weather and she handled it well. To the point my wife even commented, the whole time she was throwing up, she felt confident the boat would get us through it.

Some people complained about electrical problems with the SR but I didn't have too many issues. The only problem I had was the swim platform was breached and allowed water in. Similar issue on the pulpit, the FG was breached a bit but not bad.

Had I not bought my Carver, I would have bought a sun runner I fell in love with. Seems like a great boat that was better built and laid out than any other I looked at in that age range. I passed because I knew nothing about Sun Runner except that they were extinct. Had I spent some time investigating properly I may have called the buy back sooner and still had a chance to buy it.

I have never seen a 380. Is that the largest they made? Do you have any photo's you could post? What is the hull length? I am very curious!

Jim, the 380 was the mothership, 41'7" LOA, 14' beam. Two full size beds in mid-cabin. Huge boat!
 
WOW, I hope there is a decent one out there when I move up in size from my current boat....that is a really nice boat, well laid out, great size.

Do you know how many were produced?

Wow Hogan! I never looked that closely at that boat before. I love the layout. Kitchen is out of the way of traffic, full size fridge, and good size beds, 14' beam. Nice lines too!
 
Nice boat Hogan. If I didn't know what it was, I'd say it looks alot like a Chris Craft of the era...not a bad thing at all
 
I don't know how many of the 380's Sunrunner made, but they only made it for two years, so probably not too many out there. They bought the hull from Burnscraft, who made it for a few years.

hogan the boat that i have been looking at has the same tall windsheild as your 380 only diference from the 320 in the pic besides being blue
