Vivi and I spent the weekend at Schoonmakers marina. Sausalito has a small Spring faire the first weekend in may. We enjoyed the warm weather , pretty marina and country side.

Monday, we went to SF's South Beach Marina via Angel Island. Despite, staying in the shade, reading my novel, I pick up a pretty good burn from the reflect light off the water. Be careful about that.

I'm finding that msot of the marinas have room and are just shaking off their winters sleep.

What do you do with them when you are out boating? My labs stay home to guard the property, but my Lil Guy goes everywhere with me!

Vivi's mom is watching our kids. I'm tempted to take our little goofus dog (the chihuahua) How's that work out for you?
We would have to do a different kind of trip. For example, we spent the last two days watching the Giants games. I don't think they would allow our princess dog in the gate.

That's another boating coincidence, we had tickets for a game and Viv's friends called asking if we wanted to join them for another game. Wow, that wont be a problem with us being in San Francisco. They had front row tickets, just behind the Mets' dug out. We spent the night surrounded by rabid New Yorkers.

Viv and I are pretty tired after seeing those games. We're hunkered down in our boat. The swirling winds brought in the dark fog. We're trying to rest, but the boat is fidgeting and pulling at it's moorings. I guess there's no escaping that with a smaller boat.

We were at the same game. I upgraded our season tickets to some great seats behind home plate.

Have you considered taking a similar trip in the San Juans? (you tow your boat on a trailer, right?).

That is just a fantastic boating location - and very pretty with some great boat in spots...just a thought.

I spent a week in the San Juan's a couple of years ago. I was on a 44 ft trawler and had a blast! That area reminds me of a giant version of the delta. Channels are wider, water is much deeper and the islands are much higher. But boaters are boaters: always friendly and helpful! I met a couple at Fridays' Harbor who have boated in the delta and knew most of the great watering holes such as Lost Isle and Moore's Riverboat!

Monterey, my dog is great on the boat and everywhere else. If I have to leave him alone at the boat, I put him in his carrier/home. He is used to being in it and that is his "home" anywhere we are. It also prevents him for getting into something that could harm him. I have trained him to use "potty pads", so finding land is not a requirement for him. However, I do have to make sure he gets enough exercise since he is still young [almost two yrs old]. If it is hot, I keep a fan turned on go give him fresh air. Of course he is never left in a hot car!

Our princess dog hates her box. Four paws, one on each corner of the door when I try to put her in.

I'm pretty sure that next year, we'll trailer to Lake Powell AZ. We want to see something different.

Despite my desires to get into a larger trawler, the slip fees would eat my cruising budget. Also, the ability to trailer up to the Washington sounds more feasible.

I wouldn't mind getting a trailerable Nordic TUG 26 or Rosborough boats. The only problem is that it's tough to justify the cost when the Old Bayliner is doing as well as it does.

I started Lil Guy in the carrier from the get go. To him, it is his home; his security. He goes in to voluntarily if he feels conditions aren't safe. It might be tough to train an older dog. If you want to, you might put a treat inside the carrier at the back where he has to go inside to get it. Do that several times a day. Then gradually get him to stay in the carrier........

When I brought LG home, I knew he would be going for long car rides and to the boat, etc. So I did all my training based on what would work for those conditions. He went to the boat for the first time one week after I got him. He loves going in the car [always in his carrier] and to the boat! A great addition to my life style.
