Well, against my better judgement and that of some ROs here, yet on the advise of a neighbor, I tried using Super Slick on the bottom of our 19' Wellcraft this season. The boat stayed in the water for the season, fresh water for the most part but turned brackish late in the season. We put the boat back on the trailer yesterday for the first time since the beginning of the summer. The results? Several notches below dismal! Not only was the growth heavy on the bottom (which I was pretty much aware of) but there are more barnacles on the bottom than I ever had on any of our larger boats. Needless to say, I'll be spending several weekends scrapeing barnacles and trying to remove the residue of the Super Slick this winter (not sure how yet!) before I sand the bottom, apply a barrier coat and several coats of an ablative bottom paint in the spring. Super Slick super sucks as a full season bottom protectorant.

Sorry for your luck. I'm wondering in that Super Slick is a barrier wax would mold release wax stripper take it off?

Just a thought.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Mikee, Mikee, Mikee,,,,, Why on earth would you ever take the advice of a neighbor over that of several ROs?????

Has the neighbor been released from ICU yet? If so maybe he can help you get that stuff off. :)

LOL.... you guys crack me up! Thanks.... and yes, I dutifully accept my b-slap. But just to be clear and make a lame attempt at redemption amoung the brothern here, I tried the stuff because the neighbor has a nearly identical boat and his dock is next to mine so I figured he might be on to something.

That and the fact that he gave me the stuff free. Wait... I think I just had an epiphany!

Power wash it now. After that, the longer you wait the easier they should be to remove.

Pressure washer was used immediately after it was hauled... about 2 hours worth. I'll leave it outside for a couple of weeks to make sure any residual organic stuff has passed the stinky stage. Got to pick up some Petit or Interlux stuff that will cut the wax next before it goes indoor to dry real well.
