Thanks again to those who endorsed Al Prisco. Wow! I am super impressed. He did the survey, and despite the torrential downpour we had to endure for most of the long day after the boat was dropped back in the water, he went through everything with a fine tooth comb. I'm pretty thorough when I look at a boat I'm interested in, but he takes things to the next level, and then some. I learned a lot from watching him.
The two salesmen that I'm dealing with were present and although I don't think they were too happy with a few of the things he pointed out, they seemed to be as impressed as I was.
They had the boat surveyed a few weeks back before taking it in trade, and they told me that Al found things that the previous surveyor missed.
They started out being a little defensive, but by the end of the day the explanations and evidence he pointed out as he went along showed them how reasonable and honest he is and they definitely came around and agreed with everything he found.
Overall, it's a great boat. But there are at least a dozen or so mostly minor things that need to be addressed before I'll consider closing. No one thing is super expensive, but all totaled up it would be more than I am going to overlook.
I'm waiting for his written report before going any further, but I left a list of things that I know need to be done with the salesmen before I left them yesterday and the ball is now in their court.
If they agree to do everything it will save me more than what Al's fee was. If they don't, then the fee was money well spent as I continue my search.
