I have a friend who recently bought a slightly used Tiara. The boat is in beautiful shape, but the previous owner probably hit bottom with it as it has a bent prop and/or shaft. The surveyor noted the vibration in his report, but made no other comment other than the boat probably had a "chipped prop". My friend is a novice and didn't understand the ramifications nor the cost of repairs. Should the surveyor have made sure that the buyer was aware what was involved in fixing this problem, or are buyers, even novice ones, on their own in determining the cost of fixing things the surveyors discover?
