I have decided to install air horns on our two boats (Grady and Luhrs), replacing the small electric horns originally installed which generally last only a couple years. I've been searching for stainless steel horns but not having much success finding any. They seem to all be chrome plated -- some unknown metal but many brass. Am I wrong in thinking the chrome plated brass will look like crap after a couple years in a salt water environment even if kept clean?

Hi Bob, I'd suggest you take a look at the Ongaro horns, if you haven't done so already. I've had good success with them, and certain models are stainless inside and out. Just make sure that your wiring is heavy enough gauge to handle the current.

Kaehlenbergs seemed to stay nice as long as the salt gets cleaned off them now and again.

Thanks men. I've looked at the Ongaros but haven't seen the Kaehlenbergs so I'll be checking those.

I got rid of my air horns and replaced them with Ongaros.
