I have factory installed Bennet trim tabs on my 2005 Formula 330ss, they have never seemed to work correctly, take along time to move, some times can't tell if they are moving at all, etc, yesterday I caught one in the act of not moving, I could hear the motor run, in both directions but tab was not moving, motor hummed with switch in down position and made a higher pitch noise, almost a squeal, when in up position. the other side seemed to be working fine and made the same noises. What kind of things should I look for to diagnose this issue?
Also when they are working they seem to not make much difference in boats attitude. I measured them, the tabs are 16 wide by 11 deep with a 8 1/2 piston body. they are mounted 1 inch above the hull bottom. for no real reason that I can see, ie no interferance etc. Are these the correct size etc for my boat? If not is there anything I can do outside of a complete new system to get better performance out of them?
