I am interested in making a day trip to Tangier and will need to dock during the day. What's available with easy walking access to "town"? Any specific marina/dock names and phone numbers will be appreciated.

Now that's a town not to get stuck in overnight (for one thing, it's a DRY island!). We were going to stop there on our way to Crisfield a few years ago. The Admiral had a change of heart and made us keep going. We were glad we did. Some weather came in and we were stuck for 3 days. Thankfully, Crisfield (and Somers Cove) had some things to do. I can't imagine hanging out on Tangier for that long...not that it's not a neat place to visit for a day. And, uh, since there's only 1 car on the island I've ever seen, EVERYTHING is within walking distance :-)

Anyway, I think the main or only marina for transient is:

Parks Landing
757-891-2567

I'm pretty sure they don't want you calling way ahead of time. Just a day or so.

Have fun, and have a soft crab sandwich for me!

Funny how people enjoy different things. We always try to stay on Tangier for 5 days to a week. Yes it is dry but my bar is well stocked. Kurt is right about Parks...only game in town. Electric is iffy and current is strong but nice people none the less. Interestingly enough, the people of the Island are the most friendly and engaging AFTER the tour boats leave. We even had the opportunity to smoke some pot with some of the locals...we didn't do it and I just mention it to show how gracious the local people are. You can get anywhere on bike though everyone is always willing to give you a ride on a golf cart after they get to know you. Hilda Crocketts Chesapeake house is a great place to get REAL eastern shore cuisine. If you like peace and quiet, history and nature, you'll have a great time. If you want to hit the bars its not the place to go. have a great time.

Thank you both for insights about Tangier. I had a nice run over from Deltaville on Saturday morning; called ahead to Parks so had no problem with docking during the day; enjoyed a couple of soft shell sandwishes; took the brief tour around the island; made it back to Deltaville before the bay got a bit windy/rough that afternoon. Don't think I will make it a frequent trip, but I did appreciate the quaintness of things and the seafood. Again, thanks for your replies and information.
