I have been waiting all Season for my vacation to start now here we are. The weather forecast looks great I can't wait to get underway. I leave on Saturday but I will spend most of the day on board today cleaning and prepping for the trip. In the past we have taken friends, family or our dogs with us on our trips this year it's just me and the Admiral on board. My son choose to stay home with the dogs, He starts College in a couple of weeks and wants to spend time will his friends before he leaves. We are traveling with a least one other boat / RO and look forward to meeting others while under way as we did last year. The only downside is this Season is nearing the end when we return, once school starts again we tend to spend much less time on board this is a depressing thought. In the meantime I will enjoy this week the best I can.

I hope you all have a great week as well.

Why not leave today???

Have a great trip.

Being in the security business me son knows all well that the house is covered very well with cameras that I can view while underway. I'm sure he will have a good time while we are away however parties are out of the question.

Hogan if where up to me I would be happy to leave today however I still have a couple hours of last minute work to do for my business the others on this trip are still working until end of day and may not even sleep on board tonight, an early start tomorrow will be fine.

Dave,

Have a great trip.

What is your itinerary?

I think I've posted it before but I wouldn't expect anyone to remember my plans.

Saturday one night in Port Jeff
Sunday & Monday Montauk Yacht club (don't say it I know it's pricey, but I like it)
Tues and Wednesday Block Island
Thursday and Friday Essex Island Marina in CT
Saturday has not been planed giving us a little room for bad weather to push back a travel day if need be. I'm thinking weather permitting the last night will be in Norwalk Cove.

I have been to everyone of these stops and enjoyed them all, I look forward to returning with friends.

Dave, all of the marinas you are staying at are "pricey". You will find that they are all in the $5.00/foot neighborhood.

Nonetheless, enjoy your trip!

Wave on your way down the Hudson. I will probably be just north of the GWB, grillin and chillin

Essex is $4.70/foot this year.

Enjoy the trip, the food at the Gris wasn't great this time, no prime rib, still no stuffed lobster!!! If you go eat in the Wine Bar side, I've been told it is much better that the regular side of the house.

Be safe.

Have a great time. It sounds like it'll be fun trip with lots of exciting stops.

MJK

Yep, that's the $5.00 neighborhood I was talking about.

We stopped eating at the Gris years ago, after they changed ownership. The Black Seal is MUCH better and the prices are lower.

It's windy as hell down here!!

We left on Saturday and the weather was great.
As for the price once a year we take a nice trip and try not to let the price be a major factor. We have also been to all of these stops before and really enjoyed them all, this is why we decided to return with friends.

How's the trip so far? Did any of the high wind become a factor for you?

The trip to Montauk was a bit rough but not too bad it got nasty at Plum Island but once we reach port it was quickly forgotten. The weather has been great so far, tomorrow we head to Block, hopefully the weather will hold out. I think there will be a bit of fog and haze but the Seas should be calm I hope.

Over all so far so good, tonight is dinner at Harvest. (yes I know another pricey choose)

How'd the radar work?

The new setup works great I really used it quite a bit as an aid do to spray misting up the windows and greatly diminishing visibility. The guard zone is a nice feature. For most of the ride I was using the auto pilot and I focused mostly on spotting traps, I had a few near misses.
Tomorrow could be the hard part of the trip heading to Block if the weather is nice it's a breeze if not it could get interesting.
