Yep! I posted a rather lengthly and detailed explaination in the NBR forum but I'll post the Cliff Notes here for those of you without access to NBR.

I'M COMING HOME!!! [:-bouncy]
Yeah, Baby! The company made me a heck of an offer for a new position in the USA and they want me on the ground there by June 4. I accepted the offer and will be wrapping up my life as an expat living in China 4 months early. So, we'll get started on the Still Pond house earlier than expected and I guess we'll be shopping for FAHGEDABOUDIT III soon! We may need to bum a ride with C Spray or Arks if there is an early season get-together though.

See you all soon!!

Mike,

Congrats on your pending return!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can imagine that you are really looking forward to it.

Coincidently, I was actually logging onto BE to to send you a question!! I think I recall that you once made a post about how pleased you were with Zaino products. Chill Factor needs a good "seeing to" above the rub rail & I'm a little dissapointed in the job that I did last year with McGuires(sp). Do you remember which Zaino products you used? I'm thinking of starting with Z-AIO & then either Z2-PRO or Z5-PRO. What do you think?

Maybe we'll see you this year - C. F. splashed Fiday & I took her to the Magothy on Saturday - the bay was the flattest I've ever seen!! She's now in her berth at the Belvedere Y. C.

See you soon,

Erle & Ginny

BTW - this past Feb-Mar we did a similar Cat. cruise in the BVI with 3 other couples on a 43 footer - what a fantastic vacation!!!!

Erle,

Good to hear from you. Yeah, looking forward to coming home!

OK, Zaino. Before I ordered the Zaino for the Carver I emailed them and asked how I could best use the product on a slightly oxidized hull. What follows is the reply from Zaino. Give our best to Ginny and I hope we can hook-up again this season.
**************************************

Zaino is non abrasive and will not remove oxidation or gel coat chalking...
Oxidation and chalking needs to be removed with an abrasive product... like 3M Foam Polishing Pad Glaze Swirl Mark Remover #39009 or another type of polishing compound...
see following tips...
3M Foam Polishing Pad Glaze use By hand:
Simply apply a small amount (about the size of a quarter) to a cotton diaper or piece of cotton towel and rub back and forth into about a 1' X 1' section using light to medium pressure until it starts to dry out.
Then take a second towel and lightly rub back and forth until the polish residue disappears and the gloss comes up. If there are still some swirls visible you can repeat this step until they are minimal. I prefer using a less aggressive product a couple times instead of using a more aggressive product once. After you have done the entire car you can Dawn wash and reapply Z-1 and Z-5/Z-2.
3M Foam Polishing Pad Glaze use By orbital:
Use a 100% cotton bonnett or a foam bonnett and apply the polish in a thin lined growing circle starting from the center and spacing the growing line about an inch from the last round all the way to the edge.
Place the bonnett flat on a panel and activate the polisher and begin working the entire panel using light to meduim pressure. When you have worked the panel thoroughly then take a clean towel and wipe the residue off in a back and forth motion using light pressure. Then simply move to the next section. When the entire car is done do a Dawn wash and Zaino.
Hope this helps... Need more??? call me and I'll help you out... Question:
Also, what quantities of each product will I need to get the boat’s finish back to a decent shine?
Reply:
Get 1 ZFX and 2 Z-3..
Zaino Show Car polish is great on boats. It is Gelcoat safe and will stand up to saltwater and UV rays longer than anything you've ever used. For optimum results I would recommend Z-3 for use on your boat, but you can use Z-2 for now.... ZFX is highly recommended...

WOW! I guess they've had enough of you in the Far East, eh? [:-jester]
Seriously, as much fun as our BE raftups are, they're just not the same without you and Cathy. I hope we can somehow get you guys out 'n about the Bay this summer.

I know it's a little early, but "WELCOME HOME"!

If you fly into Philly during the workday let me know- I'm working in Terminal A east and seem to have a lot of free time (us contractors call it "airport time"). I'll buy you a cold one.
Rob

Mike, Many congrats on your new position Aint nothing like the good ol' USA

Hey Mike, I missed your posting up til now - glad to hear you'll be back in the area again. Looking forward to seeing you (and your hat) at the Annapolis Show this fall.

Commodore??????? Since when? What...the guy goes to China for a bit and decides he's now a Commodore? That's OK...I'm the Fleet Admiral - so there! ;)

Hey, easy now big guy! I'm was named Commodore of the UCBBERU,ED&EC (Upper Chesapeake Bay Raft-Up, Exciting Departure and Entertainment Club) several years ago!!!

Vic, you can count on the Admiral and me being there for Painkillers again!

Welcome back home Mike. When you're not hanging out in China, aren't you on the Sassafras somewhere? Not too far from us if so. Maybe we'll meet you sometime this summer.[8D]

We were on the Sassy but sold the boat just before I headed east... far east, but we'll be mooching boat rides and weekends on the water from friends there so maybe we'll hook-up. If there is an Upper Bay BE Get-Together we'll certainly try to be part of it. Next stop full-time is Still Pond where we are going build the house.

I was going to suggest Still Pond for some of these BE get-togethers. Which side do you have property on, the south or the north part (near the USCG station?). That's one of our favorite overnight spots.

Werlec - I hope this isn't too late (or you found a product that worked), but I just got finished using Aurora Boat Care products (auroramarine.com) and am quite pleased. I read about them on BE in another thread and figured I'd give them a try. Boat Scrub took out the oxidation, and Boat Shine seems to be doing it's trick making things look good and keeping the UV damage away (hopefully). And Sure Step is supposed to be doing the same UV blocking on my non-skid.

Kurt,

Yeah, Still Pond has always been our favorite anchorage and several of the BE RO's have hooked-up there in the past. We beleive we were very luck to find a our property; it is on the north side, pretty far back on Wilmont Park Rd. The dock is dock is actually on Jacobs Cove (also know as Jack's Cove). If all goes as planned (big 'if') we'll be able to be in the house by late next summer.

Mike,

Are you still coming home in early June? After that date. maybe we can get Les to return the forum name to the prior one - the damn geography spread is "killing" me! ;-)

See you soon!

Delaware Jim

Jim,

I'll land at PHL around midnight next Friday night (5/25)

Just heard from MikeeH last evening as he was waiting in Hong Kong. Effective Saturday, May 26, 2007, things will be back to "normal" on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, and Les can restore this forum to its original name (if he wishes).

Welcome home. I'll hoist a cold one, in your honor. Maybe I'll meet you at a BoaterEd raft-up, some time this summer. (I'm on Skipton Creek, off Wye East River.)

Welcome back Mike! Looking forward to hooking up with you this fall. Have a great summer!!!
