Well, both boats are in the water. Searay runs great, though I can no longer run the boat due the loss of use in my right hand / arm, and the throttles being tight.

Anyways, so I take a ride on the little boat today. I venture out of the canal, head towards the 2nd wantagh bridge. I come off plane 100 yards or so before the bridge, As I am 30 yards from going under the bridge a young guy in a pen-s boat (checkmate) comes on plane passes me and goes under the bridge.. Didnt bother to slow down AT ALL.

I continue on, and I go under the meadow brook bridge heading towards the inlet. I finally get to the inlet, all is good till I see coming out me heading north are two large (40' plus) sportfish, on plane. I stay closer to the green marker and I come up on an older 15-18' closed bow runabout ANCHORED in the inlet. At this point I am 100ft off this boats stern, and he starts waving me off because he had his line in the water and he was afraid I was going to run it over. Yes, I could have gone outside the channel to pass, but there were a few boats just outside the channel in my path, if I were to go that way. I pass him and hes flipping me the finger and screaming something at me.

I continue my ride, 20 minutes later, I am well out in the ocean, and I turn around and head in. I come into the inlet, and I approach the same guy. He starts throwing something at me. I turn around to have a word with this guy. Turns out they are three guys under 30 (pretty close to my age). I pull within 35 feet of his boat and calmly explain, that you cannot be anchored within an Inlet. I barely got the sentence out before he threw another bottle at me, landed on my dash and broke the screen on my GPS.

I came seconds from getting close, jumping in his boat and kicking his rb2@gr5tss. Now I have my gf all upset and crying because shes scared. So I tell the guy to go f himself and I leave. As, I am coming off plane at the Meadow Brook bridge, I see a bay constable. I get him on the radio and he pulls up along side of me. I calmly explain what happened, and he gives me a look, and says "what do you want me to do about it" I simply replied, Im just informing you of the activity of a dangerous boater. The constable says ok and drives off. He drives off in the COMPLETE OPPOSITE DIRECTED. He starts heading west, and the inlet is southeast from where we were.

WTF is wrong with this?

None the less, it was nice to be out on the water. Trying to see some positives out of todays adventure.

I was out there today too with mixed results. To your post above, I was approaching the Meadowbrook pkwy Br and as a matter of course I slowed down. My wife asked why since I was much closer to the bridge than the guy coming the other way. I just replied that I was slowing down because he probably won't. True to my suspicion, he did not and cam barreling through.

The positive was a nice afternoon in Zachs bay. The negatives were the gen going down for a reason TBD and a truly humbling cross wind docking experience.

BC, if I had limited use of my right arm and hand (hope you recover soon), I would think twice about "I came seconds from getting close, jumping in his boat and kicking his rb2rb2rb2@gr5tgr5tgr5tss", especially with 3 guys in the boat. Might not have been the best idea.

I don't understand the actions of the Bay Constable. If you were on land and a drunk threw a bottle at your car and it broke a window, any cop you told would haul the drunk in. Isn't that what a Bay Constable is supposed to do? You jumping into their boat and fighting would have been a serious mistake, even without your bad arm. It was wise not to do so. The one thing you should have done, which it seems you didn't, was to get their registration number and call the coast guard. I doubt they would have ignored idiots like that anchored in the inlet. Get well soon. Hy

No idiots on our side of the sandbox.
Went to Atlantique Saturday an stayed over night.
Was a great trip. Boat ran great.
Ocean side dunes are huge.
More sand than ever.
Most places that had stairs down the stairs are now under the sand.

And the beast followed me over:

In reality I wasnt actually going to jump in their boat and start fighting. I was just so taken back by their actions.

I tried getting the registration numbers and guess what? There were NONE!

I have lost respect for the constables. I cannot believe they did absolutely NOTHING. I tried getting a coast guard on the radio, but my radio wasnt putting out a signal, just getting static. Another issue I need to look into.

Bayconstable waiting in wait but wantagh 3 in the marsh awaiting his pray. 2 boats tied to the bridge, one boat tied to the green channel marker, one boat tied to the opposite day marker and a JETSKI minding his own business not giving off a wake in the the no wake zone. Guess who the bayconstable goes after. FUll speed ahead lights and sirens . As we pass i point and jesture to the constable , completely pays me no mind . Yep makes no sense.

The Constables are a complete joke. I guarantee if I was in the Searay and older I would have been taken seriously, and something would have gotten done.

I will not stand for people throwing bottles and breaking my equipment because hes anchored IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INLET. How dumb do you have to be to anchor in the inlets channel

Dave, you are correct. He has the power to do what is right. Below is taken from that site.

"Investigates reports of boating accidents, drownings, hazards to navigation and other waterway activities and renders assistance and first aid"

Lets see, I warned of a hazard to navigation and a waterway activities of bottle throwing lol

Even later today, I am still pretty ticked off. Ive been on the fence if I should get a new GPS/ fish finder/ speedo for the small boat, and this whackado is now forcing me to.. oh well, its only money

Sorry to hear that you had troubles on an otherwise nice day. I try to avoid Sundays from mid morning until around dinner time. When we go fishing early on Sundays we can see the fleet heading out as we are heading back to the dock at 10:30 AM or so.
I've found that dinnertime cruises on Sunday evenings are pretty good because most of the drunks and fools are either passed out or back at their docks by then.
We took the kids and one of my daughters friends out Saturday late afternoon and came back a little after dark. Grabbed some take out on the way to the boat and enjoyed a nice dinner on the water. Hardly anyone out at that time and we really had a good time.
Even my wife, who isn't exactly in love with boating, admitted that she had a nice time.
I've found that if you have to go out on the weekends during the day, that Saturday is a lot better than Sunday.

This just reinforces why I don't miss boating!

I think if you would have called NCPD or coast guard you have had a different result.

Exactly. I mean what if the bottle hit someone? The law needs the involved in a situation like this. Doing nothing only encourages these idiots. It is morons like this who should quit boating because it is too much of a hassle.
