We are in Love!
She is a 27' Almar, built is Tacoma, WA. She carries 225 gallons of fuel that feed 2 225HP Honda four strokes.

Yikes! What a boat! I'm thinking it would be cool just to be towed in by that. In fact, that Almar with the two Hondas could tow my boat faster than it could go under it's own power.

HI PHIL, WHAT A BEAUTY.I HOPE I NEVER HAVE TO USE YOUR GREAT SERVICES,
BUT IT WOULD BE A CLASSY TOW.CONGRATULATIONS WITH THE ALMAR.

Very Nice Phil! Miss seeing your boats on the water since I retired! Karyn

Now that is one SERIOUS tow boat! Did you retire one of your other boats or is this an addition to your fleet? Will you let Jerry drive it too????? LOL ;>)

Beautiful, can I berth next to you?

Hey Phil, how big are the props on those 225s?

Flutter, I retired a boat last fall. This boat replaces it. Ultimately that boat will go down Bay for those guys to run.

DLL, those props are 15.25" x 17" four blade stainless.

Phil,
I have a question regarding BoatUS towing coverage as it pertains to commercial vessels and I'm getting conflicting info from the people at BoatUS I have spoken with over the phone. If this forum is an inappropriate place to discuss this, I would happily e-mail my question to you. Thanks.

Nice boat Phil! Hopefully, I don't see it up close and in person anytime soon! Good luck with it.

Phil, I saw your new boat yesterday both before the air show and afterwards! What a beauty she is on the water!!!! And she looked very impressive as you were side towing that houseboat down Piper Slough....looks like you were pretty busy on Sunday......

Well, I never heard from Phil but I'll tell my BoatUS towing story here anyway, since it has a happy ending.

Last year I bought a BoatUS membership with on-the-water towing coverage for my Boston Whaler Outrage 21, which I use primarily in my business. The other day I went to the BoatUS web site to renew that membership. While doing so, I read some fine print that indicated that commercial vessels are not covered by BoatUS towing services. I was a little shocked to read this, especially since it didn't stop BoatUS from taking my money last year (even though I had correctly identified my boat's primary use as commercial), nor did it preclude them from renewing that membership and towing service this year. I was essentially paying for a service that I would never be allowed to use and BoatUS was aware of that.

Anyway, all hot and bothered, I called and e-mailed every BoatUS contact I could find to complain. It being fairly late back east, I mostly got voice mail. But yesterday, Chip Fardwell of the towing service's Customer Relations department called me. Unbidden, he told me he was going to refund my last year's membership and towing service fees and would check into the possibility that my boat might still be able to be covered because it is used for recreational boating as well.

So I am a happy camper. Even if it turns out I cannot use BoatUS towing services, I'm glad to see that BoatUS stepped up and did the right thing without my having to ask them to. Nice to see a big company that values customer service.

Or perhaps they will still provide commercial towing for your craft, but it will cost more......that is worth a try. I've always found Boat US to be an excellent value and gladly renew my membership every year.

Got the word from BoatUS today that they will not tow a commercial vessel under the terms of membership, regardless of whether or not it is engaged in commercial activities at the time of the tow. I suppose commercial vessels as a group spend more time underway than recreational vessels do and therefore require a higher number of tows. Oh well.

Hey, Phil.....there are nice photos of your new vessel in the slide show I posted!!!!
