Here's why I'm smiling today:

1. Seems like everyone made it through the storm without a major incident (including me).

2. The Viking will be test run by the diesel guys on Thursday.

3. Carpet and sofa will be installed on the Viking next week.

4. Electronics should be done on the Viking next week.

Last but not least......

Just received a signed purchase agreement and deposit check on the sale of the Trojan!

Sounds good Mark! Pretty soon this weather will be clearing up and we'll all be out on the water :) I was supposed to go in Thursday but am still waiting for my turbo from Atlantic Detroit so I'm going to have to push it back until early next week. Congrats on getting the old boat sold, that's always a big relief!

Even though traffic has increased, I cut the guy a really good deal just to be done with it.

It is definitely a buyer's market.

John - Atlantic is doing a great job on my diesels. I'll let you know how it turns out when I get to run it myself.
 
Mark, that's good to hear. Hopefully I won't need them anytime soon for work, but good to hear they are doing a nice job. Now if they can just get my parts in! I was supposed to have the turbo last Wednesday and still don't have it. I'm installing it myself, as long as I get it by the weekend I'll be okay. New launch date is next Weds, 4/25.
 
Atlantic just called, the turbo is in, now I should be on target to finish everything this weekend if I don't run into any unexpected problems.
 
Will post pictures when she is all done. Engine paint jobs came out great. Seems a shame to put the hatches back on. :)

I went pretty modest on the electronics. The Furuno radar and Icom VHF are still servicable but the Furuno fish-finder and Datamarine DART were shot. Since the Northstar unit was a GPS only without plotter, I had all three pulled out and installing a Furuno GP7000FNT chartplotter/fishfinder combo in the overhead and a Furuno RD30 depth/temp unit where the Datamarine unit was in the dash.

Also added a Polyplanar stereo, some speakers on the bridge and in clockpit, a TV antenna and 2 new antennas.

Can't wait to be out on the water.
 
Sounds like things are coming along nicely Mark. Hope it all continues smooth. I've been crawling around the engine compartment, rewiring and adding much needed battery banks. I too am adding some electronics. I have to install a Furuno sounder. Not thrilled about drilling a 7/8" hole through the hull, but I gotta do what I gotta do. And also a second icom M-504 and a new digital antenna. Should be golden after that.
 
Another good day!

Carpet was installed on Tuesday, sofa comes on Sunday. Electronics are done and diesels are as well.

Took her out on a test run this morning with my diesel guy and the yard owner. Boat ran really, really well and I smiled all the way to the office.

Another week to take care of all my little punch list items and she is good to go! Hoping to take her around next Sat or Sun.

Felt great to be out on the water.
 
Sounds good Mark. Did you get a new sofa or get the existing one re-upholstered? I'm figuring mine is good for a couple more seasons at least, then I'll have to decide which to do. I like the storage setup under it I have now.

I just had mine hauled for the bottom work, detailing & fuel drop
I also brought my wheels to S&S this AM and I added more cup to them to maybe get a .5 to 1 knot increase to cruise speed, Steve at S&S is great, he did them while I waited
With luck we will re-splash by next weekend ;-)
 
Andy, I had my props done by S+S also and was working with Steve. He added slightly more cup to mine also and did the full computer scan and tuning. I think I did pick up some speed, although I can't say for sure until I have everything back on the boat.

We went with re-upholstering the original one. It was expensive (what isn't) but about 60% of going brand new. We like the storage underneath as well. The price for new was from a shop in NJ that Viking uses to renovate interiors and it was a "ballpark" number. They would have to make a template to give me an exact cost. We went with a recommended shop on LI that does some boats but mostly commercial and residential. A marine industry provider was about in the middle.

I'll shoot some pictures after it gets installed.

Andy - fingers crossed. Rain slows everything down in the yard. Sea trial and closing are scheduled on the other boat next week as well, so good weather will help all the way around. I had the props done when I bought the boat and they convinced me at the meeting today that there is no reason to change them as the boat is performing right on spec. However, considering the bottom resembles the moon's surface in some spots, I should pick up a half knot when I get it redone next layup. :)

Sea trial went well for boat being sold. Closing is tomorrow morning.

New boat is done and ready to go so will depart East Rockaway for Glen Cove immediately after closing on the old boat.

now you will have money to pay all the bills on the new boat
 
DONE!

Closed the deal. We left together and I led the buyer out ER Inlet. He went to Cape May and we took the new boat to Glen Cove.

A great boating day all around.
