This weather

Florida has it's winter too - July, August and September. Can't be outside - must be in AC. Substitute AC for heat and you have our winter. But the other 8,9 months are pretty darn sweet! I hope to be there during our winters sooner than later. Don't think I will ever want to be down there 12 months a year.
 
IMO. The trick to living in FL year round is to be on the coast. The sea breeze in summer makes it no worse than NY. Go inland and it is like an oven not to mention insects and reptiles lol.

Yes. Having 2 places is ideal in many ways but having to deal with them is a hassle that I will eventually do without. Good thing my kids have extra bedrooms.

To Dave's point, I haven't put long pants on in a month.
 
Mark is right about central Florida being an oven....but we treat the heat the same way we did the cold in NY. Here we stay in the a/c in the house ....car....stores.... just like we did with heat in NY winters. We do still leave for some time in the coach in summer months.... but not for as long as we use to being our responsibilities have changed due to our rental properties and tenants.

It is taking some time to get use to the insects....snakes and other wild life that we didn't have up in NY. We found this a few weeks ago on the front lawn across the street. :)

But .....overall we like Florida and have no intentions of ever moving back to NY or the cold weather.

We did Cinco de Drinko lunch at Sparkies.

Weather was fantastic this past week. Mid 80's nice breezes, bright sunshine, clean, incredible water, manatees at my dock having a nice drink of water.......

And...I brought the sunshine home with me today for the rest of you to enjoy.
 
Gizmo saw that gator he would be lunch for the gator! He is too curious when it comes to other animals.
 
Yeah.....we have to be very carful when we walk Bella early in the morning......there are snakes....armadillo's...gators.....even seen a FOX one morning.

Still better then shoveling snow :)
 
What do I do about my dog who loves to swim?
Gizmo see's a puddle and he is in it!
 
We are somewhat spoiled here on Long Island with respect to our dogs and cats. Florida can be a dangerous place for dogs and cats. There is a major problem with Pythons in south florida and they are breeding like mad, without many natural predators. Folks can't kill them fast enough. Probably a bigger issue for pets than gators. Gotta keep an eye on pets in florida.
 
Dave.....Its not as easy as it is on the Island to get the dogs in the water down here.......but it is " doable ". There are some dog parks with swim facilities.....and some dog friendly beaches. Lakes and retention ponds in Florida are OFF LIMITS to pets. With a population of 12.5 million people....there is 1 gator for every 10 people in Florida and they are all hungry.
