will be my last time on the boat. On Sunday Charlie will be towing it to his place and doing a bunch of maintenance on it. Then my son Doug will be picking it up and towing it to her new home in Alaska.

Tis a sad time for me, but life goes on. I always knew this day would come, but had hoped it would not come so soon......

But wait! Youse guys will still have me around on BE...at least until my membership expires in a couple of years. I've made some great friends on BE and have personally met a few of them. Those I have met have been fabulous people. That is one of the wonderful things about this forum and boaters in general!

Bummer! But I'm hoping you get to enjoy it up North once in a while?? It's God's country up there and it's gotta be good boating!
 
Wait just a sec, We gotta get the trailer ready for a long haul. Maybe I get it done Sunday...maybe not. Like you said...it's 19 years old. Gotta remove the bearings and inspect the frame, maybe re-wire the lights.

A trailer is much more important than non towers are aware of.

Lets just say I'm gonna begin the process...[:P]
 
Fluttterby, I have enjoyed getting to know you through this forum and am glad that I will be able to stay in touch with you on facebook. I am sorry this will be your last weekend on your boat I know how much you love your boat and the Delta. DD

You need a boat. Howe about a nice 18' flat bottom alum w/ about a 50hp? ( used ) affordable, low maint, durable, and it gets you on the water.

( I know, I know. But I hate you see you boatless. )
 
Heck, I haven't owned my own boat for a couple of years now. It doesn't stop me from hanging out here. Don't go away!
 
Oops I forgot to add I saved a plastic Folger's coffee can, I will mount and balance a bar magnet in it to build a highly accurate magnetometer so I can precisely locate that tractor in Frank's Tract. If the magnetometer doesn't find it at N38 01.714 W121 35.376 in Sandmound Slu as I posted but the tractor is in fact on the other side of the old levee and inside Franks Tract as you posted I will post that I was wrong and you are right.
 
Flutterby, I will indeed miss you on this forum as I have missed you input over the last several months. Your insight and wisdom, especially coming from the greater sex, has allways been something I've come to both enjoy and appreciate.
My wife and I are both growing older with time and we also recognize that someday our time will also come to make the call on our boat's ownership(actually our boat belongs entirely to my wife and it will ultimately be her choice when to pull the plug, and that will be a sad day for us also.
Just remember that whether you still retain title to your boat or not your presence on this forum has and allways will be appreciated and welcome.
 
I just LOVE you guys!!!! My reason for getting out of boat ownership is strictly financial. My income has been reduced by 1/3, so I'm down to minimum expenses only. And I won't be able to afford to visit her in Alaska either....... I'm just grateful my house is paid for, and I don't have to worry about paying the utilities or buying food. But the extras are outta here.

DD, if you are correct then there is another piece of machinery where it hit my skag and prop. Your equipment might find both!

I can still afford to hang out on BE, thank goodness!
 
Sad to hear you and the boat are parting ways but it's good learn that you will stay on the forum. Boat or not, you are still one of the best Delta contributors ever.

One of these days I'm going to run out of the canvas bank bags I keep tossing into the boat. Good thing I only keep church keys, charts, etc. in them.

My jaw is still on the floor after reading your news. I understand fully the need to sell, but am in shock that you will be boatless. I don't think that's healthy for a Delta gal like you, so I'd like to extend to you an open invitation to join Meg and me on FlyWright ANYTIME you feel the need for a Delta fix. There's nothing quite as relaxing and peaceful and we all need that in life from time to time.

I'm on the boat this weekend and can render assistance if you need any help in your transition. My slip neighbor has his boat in maintenence this week and will not be using his slip. I will check with him, but I know he'll say yes...How about a trip over to Riverboat for a so-long outing? You can tie up right here in a covered slip for free. Call me at nine one six, three six seven, nine zero zero three if you'd like to join us on the water.

Glad you'll still be with us on BE. You can never leave...you part of a much bigger family here.
 
Al, what a generous offer! I don't know if I'll have much play time, but I'll give you a call around 5 or so either way. If I can come over, maybe we could chow down at Spindrift for dinner...... But I can't know 'til I get to the boat and get my chores done on Sat afternoon. And I'm meeting Charlie back at Bethel Island at 10AM Sunday morning. Lots to do and not much time......

I know how you must feel. I was also forced to get rid of my Carver after being into boating for 25 years. Being unemployed and the expenses of owning a boat just did not mix. The job market here in Tampa is real bad. I hope it changes, but I don't think that will be anytime too soon. :(
