Is anyone planning on using their boat this weekend? For almost the entire summer, our dock has been like a ghost town. It used to be a hopping place, but now it's like a morgue...

There were 25 boats at Croton Point yesterday at 2pm.
Doesn't anybody work anymore?

It was an exceptional weather day!

I was hoping to head to block but it looks like I'm headed to mystic for at least one night.

Where in Mystic? Have dinner at the Daniel Packer Inne, it is outstanding!

Why go so far out of the way.
Go to greenport for a day then head to block when it empties out.

Yes, this is a much better idea

The fuel money you save you can spend at Claudio's or Bruce's.

Dave does not like Greenport. We enjoy it and will be there for a few days next week.... Glad you are having a fantastic time on you vacation.

You just noticed? It's like that over here also especially during the week. I come down on a weeknight and there are only 4 or 5 cars there. And all the people whose boat got destroyed during Sandy didn't run out and buy another boat. My guess is it's the economy and the price of fuel.

I've noticed since last summer. Our dock used to be full of people, having fun and staying over at night. Now, if there are a couple of people who stay over, it's a lot. We stay over every Sunday night, and there are usually just two other people, at the east end of our dock. Even during the day, hardly anyone is there. Why put your boat in the water if you are not even going to sit on it at the marina, let alone take it out???

I agree the boating community has lost boaters because of Sandy but the phenomenon that Hogan is referring to is not the lack of boats in the water, it is the lack of boaters on them. SPBM has shrunk in size but for the amount of boats there, it is very quiet. Same at PennyBridge. Minnesiengo has always been dead. All kidding aside, Haverstraw seems to be the only marina around that has life and activity. It may be a little slow during the week but on the weekends, the place is quite active.

That's why we come over to visit all the time

So why not visit HM 100% of the time by keeping your boat there. Be part of the fun..... :--)))

As I look at HM from the road it looks like they have quite a few empty slips also. Plus they never put back the dock west of the fuel dock. Just the piles are there. I don't mind if the loud party people are at HM. When you get to my age you like peace & quiet.

My marina has been bust this year, not like it was 3 years ago but still the regulars come down and enjoy the place.

Going to Belmar Nj this weekend, and going to the channel club for Labor Day weekend with Bob, Bob and Wayne.

Anybody that thinks there are a ton of loud parties at HM just doesn't know what their talking about. At least on the weekends HM is alive with people, ( not loud) unless you like the dead feeling. Hay, Pocket Change, glad your happy there, its cheep, no water and dead. Just saying
I truly wish the best of the rest of the summer to everyone what ever Marina you in.

Why double my slip fees when I can come over and visit any time?

There were more people at our marina yesterday afternoon than there are on a typical Saturday or Sunday
