Thousand Islands Pics

Thanks! That's where I grew up and lived on one of the islands for 30 years. It's amazing how many people have no idea this place even exists. Singer Castle was offered to my father for $65k back in 1963. My father had considered it for $50K but did not really have a vision of how to maintain it or what to do with it in the interim, so he passed. It finally sold a year or so later for $35K and was used for church services till it was sold in '02 for about 2 mil and now is on the market for 23 mil.

WOW...I have never been through Singer Castle, but it is now open to the public and the Admiral and I plan on taking the tour the first weekend in August...It is a castle that has always been of interest to me...I believe that it is owned by a Doctor in the US, but not 100% sure on that...

Singer Castle is well worth seeing. It was built for Commodore Frederick Bourne who owned Singer Sewing Machine. His estate donated it to the Lasalle Military Academy who sold it to Dr. Harold Martin for $35k and held the church services until he sold it in '02. The current owner is a German corporation that restores and opens castles for tours.

Boldt Castle is also well worth seeing. It was more elaborate than Singer though never completed. Since the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority took over in 1977, Boldt Castle has undergone extensive restoration which is ongoing. The Boldt Yacht House is also a must see.

I have countless memories of this area spanning 32 years. I will be glad to provide any info I can and have infinite pics To share with those interested.

It's a definite meet up...We are going to stop at Singer Castle on the way home after the Poker Run/Ribfest...
We have always wanted to visit the Island, and now that we have our I-68s it's a definite stop there...
Don't you owe me a drink or something?...lol

Hey, I've been to Boldt Castle, golfed at that place just over/under the Thousands Islands Bridge and spent at least a week of most summers at my uncle's place in Clayton, NY. He's in the bay across from Linda Island and next to Cedar Point state park...an awesome place to camp!

If Mo wants to share it's fine with me.
Have you ever been to the Fulford House in Brockville?
He was a drugstore owner who made many millions in the 1890's selling Pink Pills for Pale People all over the world. He was a marketing genius. The guy who built Singer castle then took it to the next step by letting people buy Singer Sewing machines with $5.00 per week payments.

Fulford was a very very influential man...They were going to build a bridge between Canada and the USA right by his house...He stopped the construction...The pylons are still there on the islands just East of Brockville...The bridge was then constructed in Johnstown...Now that was a man with power...
