Replaced the control on Mercruiser 5.7 with a newer mercury control. Everyting shifting fine, but in Forward there seems to be some "play" in the handle from the time she shifts into F and taking her up in RPMS. Forward engages fine but then takes significant forward motion on the handle to take it up. It can get a little scary docking because she will surge a little once past the play. I'd obviously like the increase in speed to be a bit more gradual. Is there a simple adjustment at the motor end of the cable run?
